Little off topic but is anyone else getting sandboxie service and sandboxie control both running around 260K mem? I thought I was looking at it wrong. I don't believe I've ever seen it that high. This is on idle too. Not running anything sandboxed. I'm running Win 8.1 64 bit.

Hi kjdemuth, my memory on idle with 2 SbieSvc.exe and SbieCtrl.exe running is usually about 10MB. Once something is running sandboxed memory goes to to about 18 maybe 20MB. CPU usage is always 0. On my XP and W7 I see about the same all the time.

With all of Sandboxie processes running I'm using about 17.5 MB. CPU usage is also 0.

if you are on Win8 x64 system with WSA, it is normal... WSA's "bug" that is not a priority...

Thanks folks. guest yeah that might be it. For a while the whole Explorer usage was ok but now it's back again. WSA also will occasionally set a few sandboxie process to monitor. Driving me crazy. Might have to make software change.

Thanks Bo, but this is causing me real problems. C++ library update does not install for me & the SBIE installation crashes. SBIE is unusable and fresh install of 4.10 is required.

Why no beta so we could have tested this?

Anyway staying at 4.10 for now,

    Cheers

Hi Chris, I think you should tell Curt about your problem and I will send him a link to your post. Both of my computers (XP and W7) did not have C++ 2010 installed. The installation of that program went well for me in both systems.

Hi Bo, don't have time to get into it tonight will do tomorrow though. I've already got C++ 10.0.40219 installed so don't know if they've considered users might already have an installation. Win 8.1 Pro x 64 by the way. Will try the other machines tomorrow.

    Cheers

Yeah, do it tomorrow Chris. I already send Curt a link to your post so he becomes aware of your issue in W8.1.:)

    Done it now.

Can anyone who has successfully installed 4.12 tell me what version of C++ redistributable it is bundled with it so I can try to update manually to prevent the clash?

    Thanks

    It comes with 10.0.40219 .

My Bitdefender free Av said the S-boxie install was malware and quarantine it while i tried to install - after inactivation of it the process continued to the end and said the installation failed because of the bundle .
Tried all over again and it went ok - i think - restarted and i am using it now and hopefully everything is ok .

    The future will tell .

    Dont miss that .

Pb1, your antivirus probably cried out load malware yesterday because the installer that was first uploaded was not signed (mistake). The one that can be downloaded now it is signed. But anyway, I did run yesterday through Virus total the installer that was not signed and all 53 scanners gave it a clean result.

@chris1341, Hi Chris, as Pb said, Version 10.0.40219 is the one that gets installed.

.....and therein may lie the problem. It's trying to install something I already have.

What worries me more is the installer crash rendering SBIE unusable. This should not happen. Roll back should kick in. I know what to do with SBIE but would others?

I hope I'm wrong but this seems like too much of a rush to get this out. I've been testing SBIE betas for years. This is the first full release I've seen come out of the blue and the only full release I couldn't install.

    Cheers

The Sandboxie internal updater is working. Went from v. 4.08 t0 v.4.12 and also installed C++ 2010 10.0.40219 without any problems through the SandboxieInstall.exe

Also noticed before installing v.4.12 that updating from v.4.08 to v.4.10 seemed to run fine with C++2010 10.0.30319 which I had installed quite a while ago.

Update on installing Sandboxie and C++ 2010:

Noticed that if you update Sandboxie v. 4.08 to v.4.10 and then update C++ 2010 10.0.30319 to 10.0.40219
it asks for a restart to complete the installation. (note: restart for C++ 2010)

If you update C++ 2010 first to 10.0.40219 and then update Sandboxie v.4.08 to V4.10 no restart is required.
Same goes for when updating Sandboxie v.4.08 to v. 4.12 ( no restart required)

Finally my little complain about the ransomware issue may lead to a good thing, i am glad it was not a worthless effort.

Yes that would be nice addition. I hope they will make hot-key configurable.

Stand alone x32 and x64 specific installers WITHOUT C++ Redistributable download available now here:

    http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?AllVersions

I can now upgrade. Have to say it makes a difference on my set-up. I'm finding opening sandboxed apps is quicker for me.

    Cheers
