Today, for the second time, I found one or two icons of Sandboxie entries under the Sandboxie folder in Start menu missing. Instead of the correct icon showing up, a folder was there replacing the correct icon. Both times have been in W10. The first time it happened was 2 or 3 versions earlier than 5.30.

Reinstalling Sandboxie over the top solves the issue. The first time it happened, I didn't ponder about running the installer over the top. But this time I thought about it for a few minutes but since I knew my license would not have to be reactivated, I went ahead and did it with confidence. So, if you see something like this in your Sandboxie folder in Start menu in W10, just run the installer over the top. If you run the installer of the version you are currently using, the license wont have to be reactivated.

Then you ran a different version than the one you had already installed.

This is a case like when you install 5.29.2 over 5.29.1, in a case like that, the license don't need to be reactivated. It would only need to be reactivated if you install something different than a 5.29 version.
I would do it, you can always restore something if you encounter a big problem with activation.

I went back to 5.28 after getting an error in Chrome when opening my YouTube channel. Will stay with this version for a while since I am running Windows 7 anyway.

Sandboxie is working and reactivating very well in my Win 7 system - after Sandboxie Support post.

Thanks a lot to Barb@Invincea, from Sandboxie Support!

Barb wrote, "we found a security weakness in the software being used for the forums, and out of an abundance of caution, they were taken down for the time being". I wonder how long "the time being" will last?

I miss the old forum. Hopefully we haven't lost it. This forum at Sophos doesn't attract me one bit.

It's gone on too long. I think this is all just a ruse to end Sandboxie, and releasing one last version softens the blow.

On what is your experience and background that allows you to make that conjecture

    First... https://www.sophos.com/en-us/lp/invincea.aspx

Secondly, 5.28 was the first (non beta) update in a long time. Sandboxie had never gone that long without an update.

Now their website disappears for almost two weeks. How long does it take to get a page up? Only once have I seen the page with a link to their temp forum. (Which took forever to pop up) There are only half a dozen posts on that temp forum...because hardly anyone is finding it.

A few posters on the temp forum (here as well) have expressed concern about the future of the company but no one has alleviated those concerns. No one has said, Don't worry, folks. we're not going anywhere. All they've stated is they are having problems.

Sandboxie has been through three owners. It takes a lot of work, manpower, and money to keep it going. Now it seems like the current owners are winding down operations (as per the link, above).

Perhaps "ruse" was a tad over dramatic but I think they pulled the plug on themselves. Whether it's temporary or permanent we shall see. I will gladly eat my words if they bounce back. I don't know how I will function without this program.

I think it is quite clear that Sophos will kill Sandboxie:

I have been away from windows for a time but now installed it again. It took 4 days to register it with my old license thanks to the ongoing problems at Sandboxie.com. I am glad I can enjoy Sandboxie once again at least to the end of the year when it seems it will stop getting updates. Sandboxie was truly a unique software rivaled by none. I guess Sophos has now harvested what it needs from sandboxie to integrate its technology into their software and hope people will pay for that instead :/

FWIW, right this moment I am able to open links at sandboxie.com, including the page to purchase licenses. Unfortunately, the real forum is still not up. About Sandboxies death :D. I doubt Sandboxie is dying but is unfortunate we are not getting information on whats happening, this lack of information leads to speculation and anger directed at Sophos (well deserved). I know some bozos at Sophos would like to kill SBIE, but there are also people there that don't, lets just hope the people that have good regard for SBIE keep winning the battle on what to do with the only good software they own.

Yup, sandboxie.com works now for me too so now I dared to upgrade to 5.30. No problem reactivating the license.

As I see Sandboxie can also be purchased ATM so maybe that Sophos announcement doesn't include SBIE.

Yeah, you got a point. But It is a bit confusing since Invincea owned Sandboxie when Sophos acquired Invincea, so it is easy to think that it was a Invincea product too..

That announcement that has been posted here twice this past few days is old and it was explained at the SBIE forum, some time ago, that it don't include Sandboxie. The announcement was about Invincea programs, I think the one that was called something like X. All I know is that it was not about SBIE. I dont know why it was posted here, the guy who posted it the first time is supposed to be a SBIE user and should have known that it was not about SBIE.

If I go to Sandboxie.com and click on where it says ''Sandboxie now supports Windows 10. Click here to download it.''
    I get this..

Cannot get a download, only what I posted.
Will not download a new installer until things are okay again.
Who hosts Sbie forum and/or Sophos?

The installers and the install is just fine. I havent had any issue whatsoever with 5.30.

This is what I am getting right now if I "Click here to download it.".

    Sin título.jpg

But I seen what you posted earlier by clicking there. You can also download installers from this link. This page seems to be fine.

Well it's good to see the old site back today (knock on wood it stays up) minus the old forums, however.

Looks like (at least for now) they are scaling back support a tad with just one forum page. Maybe things were too overwhelming for Barb with all those subsections. Or maybe a take over is looming and Sophos wants to temporarily handle support off site. Who knows.

Yes they are scaling back support, but only by supporting only 5.30. thats in line with a lot of other companies who only support the latest version. Also bo is right about that Invincea announcement. It's OLD!!
