The Galaxy S11 (or is it S20?) is fast-approaching, and Samsung always announces its new S-series flagship phones in February or March. Now we know when this year's devices will be revealed: February 11th.
The below promotional video was accidentally uploaded early to a Samsung press video channel, and was discovered by Max Weinbach (of XDA Developers) and @water8192 on Twitter.

It's all but certain we'll see the next mainline Galaxy S phones at the event, and a new Galaxy Fold is also a possibility. We won't have to wait long to find out.

In case you've been losing sleep over whether that leaked Samsung invite video was real, fret no more. Samsung itself confirmed this evening that it plans to show off "new, innovative devices that will shape the next decade of mobile experiences" at a Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco on February 11th.

Samsung is obviously talking about the Galaxy S11 series (or Galaxy S20 series, depending on who you ask), but the language Samsung used in its newsroom post seems to suggest we'll see more than just the usual flagship smartphones in California next month. Could that mean Samsung will offer us a first glimpse at its new, Razr-esque foldable phone?

Still, it's possible the announcement's nod to innovation could just be referring to some of the features found in the S11/S20, like an incredibly potent camera or, well, whatever Neon turns out to be. The questions vastly outnumber the answers for now, but at least we now know when Samsung will finally stop being so coy.

Google didn’t provide any details of what they’re going to announce, but it seems the announcements are going to be related to Android experience in Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series that will be launched at the event.

Rumor mill: If rumors are to be believed, we’re only a couple of months away from Samsung’s next flagship smartphone reveal. On August 5, the company will unveil both the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Fold 2, according to several reports.

Prolific Samsung leaker Ice Universe wrote on Weibo that Samsung’s annual Galaxy Unpacked event would take place on August 5 this year—a date that South Korean publication the Dong-a Ilbo agrees with. As one would expect, the Covid-19 pandemic means this year’s show will be an online-only affair.
In addition to the Galaxy Note 20, Samsung is expected to reveal several other devices at the event, including the Galaxy Fold 2, a 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip, a Galaxy Tab S7 tablet, and the Galaxy Watch 2, so it could be a long night.

Reliable Samsung leaker Ice Universe appears to corroborate the suggestion with two predicted prices.
He predicts the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 will cost $999, up $50 from the Note 10, while the Note 20 Ultra will cost $1299, up from the $1199 launch price of the Note 10+.

In terms of specs, the Note20 Ultra packs Snapdragon 865+ and features a 120Hz LTPO display with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440(QHD). Another interesting feature about the Note20 Ultra is that users will be able to turn on QHD+120Hz at the same time, something which S20 users cannot do. Samsung is also expected to introduce a new S Pen for the smartphone, and some new features for the pen are also expected.

The design and features of a few of these phones have been leaked ahead of the official announcement, but a few minor details were still missing. Now, the Galaxy Fold 2 5G has passed through China’s 3C certification process, revealing its charger’s specifications.

The 5G variant of the Galaxy Fold 2 with model number SM-F9160 has received the 3C certification, and the supporting documents reveal that the foldable smartphone from Samsung will come bundled with the EP-TA800 charger.
A 25W charger is a step up from the first-generation Galaxy Fold’s 15W fast charger. It was revealed earlier that the Galaxy Fold 2 will come equipped with two batteries (2,275mAh and 2,090mAh), equalling a combined battery capacity of 4,365AmAh.

Samsung’s teaser is pretty cryptic, even by the standards of tech invitations, although the copper color splash does match the leaked images of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra — the rumored flagship of the lineup — that were accidentally posted on Samsung’s Russian website at the beginning of July.

Although at least one actual Note 20 Ultra device has made its way out into the world already. The new flagship will supposedly feature a triple rear camera array, including a periscope-style lens, along with a 4th sensor that appears to be either a 3D ToF sensor or a laser autofocus.

Expect to see the usual bump in specs, too, with the inclusion of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 — or possibly even the rumored Snapdragon 865 Plus — which, like the S20 lineup earlier this year, will make 5G the default for the new Notes in addition to a 120Hz refresh rate display option. And of course, the Note 20 will feature an S-Pen, potentially with a new trick or two up its sleeve.

Samsung is all set to launch as many as five new products at the Unpacked event on August 5. The first and most interesting new feature is support for hand gestures. In particular, clenching and unclenching your fist can answer a phone call. If you get a phone call, just clench your fist and then unclench, and the watch will answer the call.
Because the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has a speaker, you’ll be able to take the call on the watch itself as well. If you are getting a phone call you don’t want to answer, you can just shake your hand to ignore the call.

All of these new features are great additions to Samsung’s smartwatch lineup, and we can expect a bunch more to be unveiled with the release of the new watch next month. The Galaxy Watch 3 is expected to be announced at Samsung Unpacked on August 5th, and we should expect it to be available for sale shortly thereafter.

iFixit’s teardown for the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra could explain why your phone is running hot
iFixit found a graphite thermal pad instead of copper cooling

Tech teardown specialist iFixit has published a new article taking apart the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra, providing us a better look at what’s underneath the giant camera bump of Samsung’s $1,300 stylus-equipped smartphone and its cheaper sibling.
Surprisingly, iFixit found that both phones are missing the vapor chamber and copper heat pipes Samsung had been using on previous phones to cool their processor during extended gaming sessions.

Instead of copper, iFixit found a multi-layered graphite thermal pad inside each device during its teardowns and says that JerryRigEverything reportedly found one as well. But weirdly, at least one other Galaxy Note 20 Ultra does have the copper heatpipe and vapor chamber cooling, as you can see in this teardown video.

Further justifying the device’s cost is the inclusion of a Galaxy Watch 3 and the Galaxy Buds Live — neither of which ship with the standard Fold Z 2. And perhaps even more importantly, it’s something you can lord over the heads of your slightly more frugal friends who only shelled out for the regular Fold.

The Galaxy Fold Z 2, which was the centerpiece of today’s Unpacked annex event, is largely devoted to addressing the biggest complaints about the original. Given the issues with the original, that’s about as admirable a goal as any.
We certainly didn’t feel comfortable advising people to purchase the device for $2,000. The Fold Z 2 is priced the same (which is to say still prohibitively expensive for most), but it could be the product the first gen should have been.

Samsung has announced its next event, coming hot on the heels of the big Galaxy Z Fold 2 unveil, and this time it’s the company’s most loyal mainstream flagship fans it has in mind. Come September 23, Samsung has confirmed today, it’ll be holding “Unpacked for Every Fan,” kicking off at 10am ET.

It’s been a busy few months for Samsung. After the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra unveil – along with a host of accessories and tablets – came an Unpacked dedicated to the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Now, we’re expecting to see another iteration of a device launched earlier in 2020.

Although Samsung is tight-lipped with its details for the September 23 event, what we’re likely to see is the latest “FE” or “Fan Edition” handset from the company. Specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition.

It’s the device likely to slot into the “Lite” category, based on Samsung’s S20 flagship but potentially with a more attainable price tag. Leaks earlier in the month outlined some of the specifications, too. The Galaxy S20 FE is likely to have a 6.5-inch 2300 x 1080 Super AMOLED screen, supporting 120 Hz refresh rates.
