    Hello everybody,

Finally we've registered here. Sorry for our silence - we just haven't a possibility to support you here. We're always ready to answer your questions by e-mail and ICQ.

We'll post here only some news and official statements about most common questions.

First of all - if you're out of activations because of installing/uninstalling the program - don't hesitate to ask us for additional serial number. Send your old serial number and a reason in a few words to our e-mail hotline@star-force.com.

About all the problems and suggestions posted and discussed here. We're working over them. Some of bugs had been fixed and suggestions realized already. But contacting us by e-mail or ICQ would be preferred, as I said.

Thank you all for your help and critics it was very useful for us!

    Best regards.

    Hello,

maybe my comments should be in a separate thread, I don't know for sure so this is where my post will be. Feel free to move it if necessary.

Being a member of these forums and reading about Safe'n'Sec I became interested in this application in part because the latest beta of System Safety Monitor gives problems on my system. So finally I took the plunge and installed the app.
The installation and activation went without a hitch but the problems began after the first obligatory reboot. Not all icons in the system tray became visible such as those for NOD32, Trojan Hunter Guard, Ms AntiSpyware and RegRun's Watchdog but the biggest annoyance of all was a BSOD with one of Safe'n'Sec own files, namely "sfcorevt.sys", when any program was being started. SNS could be removed using Safe Mode but I choose to play safe and use GoBack, a trusty app of mine for years.
The "lethal" problem was mentioned in an E-mail to "hotline@star-force.com".
Swiftly followed (in a few hours) by a reply by Mr. Dmitry Gorshenin of the customer's support group sending me a new version of SNS (the complete one with anti-virus support) with an serial that could be activated 2 times in one month.
After 2 more unsuccessful versions and some more exchanged mails with Dmitry, came earlier today a new version of the offending sfcorevt-file that did the trick.
SNS is working flawlessly now thanks to the continual efforts of Dmitry and the other guys (and girls) at StarForce Technologies.
This mail to this forum is my way of thanking them for a very nice piece of software with outstanding support so sorely missed in many software today.

    Kind regards,

    PeterVO :-*

Yes they are trying to do a good job. I just tested a new version, and they are on the road to solving the problem I ran into.

    Official Safe'n'Sec forums are online.

    http://star-force.com/forum/index.php

I will be helping to administrate/moderate them. I don't work for Starforce, however due to my contributions to the development of the product, they asked me to assist.

The entire SNS development team will be actively monitoring the forum over there for any issues/suggestions or comments.

To those following this thread. They have found the conflict causing the issues I've seen, and now are working on a fix. Good news.

So far, I haven't seen any evidence of this, although whenever multiple applications get together they can interact in strange ways, hence other users and I may observe different behavior. I'm currently running SnS with PG and RegDefend active. No conflicts that I can see there. I realize this is potential duplication of coverage - I'm in a testing mode right now.

No prbs Blue, I had them all installed too but my only difference was: on my other computer I had Tiny 2005 installed and it was impossible to enable windows security when SnS installed, on my main system SnS works flawlessly :) ...there is some overlap but not completely and I really believe in this product and their support is second to none ;)

but my experience with tiny and SnS where a bit worrying and needed to format, it crippled my system to a crawl and I had more bsods in a week then I had in one year on that computer :) I guess it was a bit too much of the same :D

    SDS909--

I have been having a few intermittent problems with SNS! The first was with BSOD's, then it was the service+application not showing up in the taskbar. Even, if I manually clicked on the shortcut!!! I tried to register on the new board, but was thrown for a 'loop'. when I got an e-mail back saying I had to sign, date & fax them back in order to become registered! :) They need to find a different way of doing that... Anyways, I sent them my Minidump and they are aware of the bug that is causing my Bsod's, but with it now not shoing up in the services and taskbar is another issue. I have uninstalled it twice(using up two of my five tries of auto-registering) I wonder what happens after you hit five timeso_O (I have purchased the SNS+Antivirus)

You shouldn't have to do anything like sign and send something back. They use PHPBB2 which is a fairly straight forward forum system. Did you put you were under the age of 13 by accident?

Try registering again under a different name.

Thanks, I replied under a different (slightly) user name. DOH!!!.. It is the first time I ever seen a request for a guardian to sign and date for me to part of a forum! It was an accident... Thanks again,

    Appreciate it!

Yes. The conflict app was Zone Alarm. Last beta they sent me, was fine with out Zone Alarm, but froze before I uninstalled it. They are working on a fix. I have to say these folks are really trying to get the bugs out of this program.

This won't be any problem at all. I've been thru my original five plus a bunch. They have been great about that issue. They want this product to succeed and recognize there have been problems. They just send a new key with more activations.

    Hi all!

Since the newest build of SNS (0408 downloaded from thier ftp site) there have been no BSOD's or Service problems on my system. Been testing it out for a few days now! :) Star-force has very good customer support... I started a 'wish-list' thread for SNS, over in thier new forum:

    Thanks for the update Jazzie1.

I've looked over all of the documentation provided and it is still not clear to me which events SnS is monitoring. The best I can tell is that:

    1) It is monitoring the activities of applications and based upon its own internal heuristics, it is attempting to flag applications that may be up to no good.

    2) It is monitoring certain system files, and any activities on those files are flagged.

Do you have a better understanding of what SnS is trying to do, or have you seen any detailed description? Also, it appears that they are still retaining their limitations on installs per license key. Is this correct. Right now, I am successfully running Prevx with little system impact, so I would only change if there was additional protection that SnS offers. Thanks for any info.

    Richrf-

Hi, number two and a portion of number one (instead of heuristics, algorithms) are correct. Since it is a proactive approach to security, in a nutshell, it protects your system, programs & registry from unknown/malicious external attacks & new vulnerabilities/threats. Here is a complete list of what features it has:

    http://www.star-force.com/protection.phtml?c=101

Hope this gives you a better understanding on what SNS does!

    Take care

    Hi Jazzie

I have the same questions as Richf, and it really doesn't answer them. I have purchased both Prevx and Safe'n'Sec to really evaluate them. With Prevx I can see exactly what is being protected, and can control the level of protection. But to me SnS is a black box. The website aside, I look at the Prevx's list, and I don't know which of those things is in SnS. I think this is richf's question. SnS is lite on resources, but I am not finding Prevx to be a burden. StarForce folks have been working hard to iron out the gliches that is for sure.

    Hi Peter2150!

I don't use Prevx! I tried it once, but it bogged my system down, so I removed it. Now when you say that.
Does that mean the link that I provided didn't answer your question or something else? Maybe (guessing here) that prevx filters most, if not all the attempts, on your system, first.. Leaving Safe'n'Sec left as a standby. (Sort of like two packet filter firewalls) If I had both installed I could better answer your question. But Safe'N'Sec works fine on my system. Lauching installers, Opera wanting to write to the Win.ini and tmp dir and programs, services trying to alter or delete the registry...It would be nice to see a detailed log of prior/real time events to see what was allowed or rejected. (Not history!) I know that at the time, SNS passed the Regtest from GhostSecurity. And prevx failed it. Not sure of the present release. Have you run any real time tests against botho_O
