What scanning engine does it use?

I cannot find anything about the spyware module in the help-File. Maybe they have yet to add it in. Could be there own scanner :doubt:

Have a look in the "plugin" folder in the installation directory. (for example the version with the AV module has a folder "bitdefender").

    Hi,

Last week I installed Safe'n'Sec and had a problem with Visual Studio 2005. Whenever I want to debug an application my IDE becomes unresponsive and I have to close devenv.exe using TaskManager. Then the GUI closes but devenv.exe and the application .exe I'm debugging remain in Task Manager's list of active processes. Also I can't open Safe'n'Sec's list of active processes. Here are the steps to reproduce this problem (on my fully patched Windows XP SP2 PC, with no other security related software installed except for NOD)

    Launch Visual Studio 2005
Choose File/New/Project/MFC Application (Application type: Dialog based)
    Choose Build/Build Solution
    Choose Debug/Start Debugging

Already installed the new build 2.0.725 uploaded yesterday, but the problem remains. Anyone else having this same problem? I already emailed hotline@star-force.com about this, but haven't heard anything yet.

I have VBA32 as my main AV. Is it necessary to use S'n'S with AntiSpyware for me?

I assume not if VBA do in fact provide the spyware scanner.

It would be the same as using SNS + AV and using BitDefender as your primary/secondary AV. Redundant.

    Hi Blackcat
    Could you clarify something?
Do you have version 2.6.670(Build 6) or 2.0.725, as in alley's response.
    Hey alley
They have been pretty good in their responses for support, at least when I was doing the "beta" testing. I usually got a reply from them within 24 hrs (taking into account the difference in time zones).
    Cheers :)

Does anyone know how to access quarantined files from the SNS 2.0 build 670 GUI? I did a malware scan with SNS+AV 2.0 and it found a couple of malwares and I would like to delete them permanently.

    Thanks.

Just open quarantine folder with internet explorer. Sns has shell extension set for this folder.

Just download one of the versions; these are the trial ones.

After the 30-day trial period, or if you uninstall/install again, it will then ask you to purchase the activation key.

Thanks sage386! This is excellent news because I think this is a great tool.

BTW: When purchasing Safe'n'Sec, is there a way to activate it when first installing Safe'n'Sec, or do you have to wait for 30 days?

Thanks sage386. Does anyone know what is new in build 725? Also, do I really have to uninstall build 670 to install build 725? Auto update does not show the build 725 upgrade at all.

    These are different SNS versions. For example;

    1. The new Safe'n'Sec Personal 2.0 + Anti-Spyware is v.2.0.725.

    2. While the basic Safe'n'Sec Personal 2.0 is v.2.6.670.

So if you only have SNS Personal you will not be able to upgrade from within the program to SNS + Anti-Spyware. You need to download this new AS version separately as they have a different price structure.

And related to this point is the fact that those of us with just a Personal license still cannot upgrade to the other versions. We have to buy another license!

I have found even more interesting one. Check this:

    http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/protect.phtml?c=55

They offer Safen'Sec + Antispyware for 10 bucks only for those who own star-force protected games. Don't ask me how it works, I have not followed the link, but I would be interested in any feedback :)

When you are presented with the screen that says "Warning Suspicious Appplication found" and you click on the help button in an attempt to decide what to do, how good is the additional info in helping you decide on your next step?
