Safely Remove Hardware Icon-fix Doesn't Work

    I went into Customize taskbar to put "always show" Safely Remove Hardware Icon in the notification area, popped up there fine, did what I needed to do and when I removed my SD card the icon disappeared. Again went into taskbar and the icon had moved down to the past items. How do I get it to stay permanently in the notification area?

    Im not sure...it always worked for me (you dont have hide inactive icons ticked do you?).You may like to do what i did and purchase USB SAFELY REMOVE from here...

    vaporub, the Safely Remove Hardware icon disappearing act is a well known issue with Windows and it's hard to make the icon stay permanently in the Notification area. However, you can create a Desktop shortcut so whenever it goes away, you can force the icon to appear:

    Right click an empty area of your Desktop.
    Select New > Shortcut
    On the Create Shortcut prompt, type the location of the item as follows:
    C:\Windows\system32\RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll
    Click Next
    Rename the Shortcut "Safely Remove Hardware"

    Next time the icon disappears, just double click the Shorcut and Viola!
