I have a verifed back up and before burning it to DVD I was going to run a check sum program so that I would be able to check it against the info that I burn onto the CD.

My back up is in a safe zone and it would seem impossible for a check sum program to see it - is that correct ?

I also use a program called ThumbsPlus a lot which wants to give a new name to the safe zone and can't which is a bit of a pain.

I know that Acronis recommend using a safe zone if backing up to the same hard disk so am not sure of what's best here ?

The partition where the back up resides is not used for anything except for storing the back up.

A program like Thumbs Plus obviously sees the back up but would/could it change it in any way ?

    What to do ?

    thanks,

    Mike

    Hello Mike,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

We regret to inform you that once you have created the image in Acronis Secure Zone you can't copy it to any location or check with any software other than Acronis True Image. However, if "Check Image" tool tells that image is ok, you will definitely be able to restore it.

You may verify all images, not only those stored in Acronis Secure Zone. Even if you split the image oever several CDs or DVDs you will be able to check the integrity. To do that please insert the last CD (or DVD) disk first and then follow the instructions in wizard.

    Thank you.
