That's interesting. I wonder if the next desktop browser version has anything similar?

    My thoughts exactly.
Opera has been my browser of choice for some time now,
but if it becomes a Facebook browser I'd drop it like a bad habit.
    Hopefully this never happens.

Not sure but I don't think so, at least not at this point (other than a simple extension). I suppose their focus is on the mobile market with respect to this type of integration - whether it carries over to the desktop remains to be seen.

I'd drop Opera also if fb buys 'em. But I think I'm addicted to Opera. I've been using it before it was freeware. So it'd be difficult for me.

Unless Facebook do buy Opera ASA & has plans to change the desktop drastically I suppose. Although, I've been thinking about this & I honestly believe that FB has enough problems of its own at the moment than to be interested in acquiring a browser. My guess is that Opera ASA actually have been discussing deals with other companies, very possibly including FB & this is where these rumours have originated from.

Opera: Who would be the best fit for Opera?

If Opera is for sale. Who'd you like to see buy them?

I certainly don't want facebook to buy Opera. But if the rumor is true & Opera is looking to be bought. Who'd be the best to not mess up Opera?

Yeah, I honestly hope Facebook doesn't acquire Opera. I've read some opinions, on other sites, that it may very well be a positive thing for Opera ASA to be owned by Facebook. I just doubt it myself. Although, I suppose I have to point out that I am not a Facebook user. So I am a trifle bigoted against these plans.

That's what I think also. But if Opera wants to be sold (still a rumor) who'd you want to buy them. Personally I can't think of a buyer that would not screw up Opera. That's why I'm asking.

The stock market has always been twitchy when rumours are rife though. It may not mean anything. *He says hopefully ... *

Facebook has lost it's way recently, so much for joining the stock market, now they seems to be desperately looking for ways to generate money. (Results) :D

Facebook is falling like a cement-shoe wearing mobster in the market and you want to buy stock in something they may buy? :D Poor Mark is now worth 3 billion less than he was a week ago. Your faith in the Force is strong and admirable, young Jedi. But you have much to learn :p

Lol, I didn't say he wasn't doing okay, just that his value has gone down. I again wouldn't put much "stock" in this rumor just yet. Let's see how this goes: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404971,00.asp

It's not about believing it'll happen. Personally I doubt it. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. The stock did go up though.

More often than not, the stock price of the company being bought or taken over rises more than that of the acquirer. If the market, in its wisdom, perceives that the price is too high the acquirer's stock is punished. Of course, in the case of FB, there could be other reasons ... For one, yesterday seems to be the first day options trading was allowed in FB.
