Finally got cable DSL, and got my wife's and my computer connected through a router - Network Everywhere (Linksys) router #NR041-WM.

I went to grc.com and it shows ports 23 (telnet) and port 80 (http) as being open. I connected Windows firewall and they still show open. Rebooted but no change. The router is on default setting and I'm a little hesitant to start playing with it for fear of screwing things up, which would undoubtedly make my wife mad.

Any ideas how to stealth or at least close the above ports?

You have to select an IP address that isn't given to either computer and set the DMZ to this address.

    Taken form here: http://www.melbpc.org.au/pcupdate/2412/2412article4.htm

Hope this gives you something to get you going in the right direction.
