    Well, I found Deep Freeze to be quite useful. You can still install software to test, but if you don't like it, reboot your machine and it'll be like you hadn't done anything at all.

    If you need to install something permanently, ctrl+alt+shift+F6, put in your password and choose to thaw for one reboot. After that, you can restart, install and configure, then restart again to freeze things back up.
