i have been trying instant restore programs and i have tried 2 different programs which are

    Rollback Rx here http://www.horizondatasys.com/169614.ihtml

    and magicure here http://www.magicuresoft.com/products/magicure-professional

both programs appear indentical in functionality and even the programs interface appear indentical in both appearance and functionality. i have read somewhere on the net (i dont remember where) that magicure originally created the program and licensed it to resellers to add their own branding and add a little to the price. what i would like to know is are these programs infact the same apart from branding, and does advice or help given apply to both programs ?.

has anybody had any experience with magicure as its a lot cheaper than rollback rx................

MagicCure appears to be yet another RESALE of Rollback RX. Common knowledge has it that Horizon Data Systems (the Rollback author) hold the standing patents on the process, and are the current active support mechanism for most of the issues with this software.

Rollback's other major reseller is EAZ-SOLUTIONS who sell the EAZ-FIX Rollback clone.

I'm sure it plays exactly like Rollback... like EAZ-FIX does. I think EAZ-FIX is less expensive than Rollback RX.

i cant find the link but when i bought magicure on bits dujour, the authors of magicure said that magicure were the original creators and licensed it out to resellers who then added their own branding

And here we go again with the "who is the author/who owns the patents" etc. Will it never end?

Still none the clearer as to who is the author/patent owner. The only thing that we have now is another possible candidate.

Perhaps one day they will turn the story into a detective series entitled "Who in the world is RB Rx, sorry...EAZ-Fix, sorry...MagiCure...oh, what the hell!" o_O

Well, we know that Comodo did not author the software...they just p@$*~ed it...so I would not include them in the title. ;)

I think it's important to not believe something unless the person making the claims can also provide reliable and solid evidence and proof to back up their claims. Would you agree KOR?

EAZ-Fix & RB Rx had been out an established a long time before Comodo came up with the abberation that is CTM & the mess they have made of the application when compared to RB Rx & EAZ-Fix. If they where the authors/patent holders they would have released the software first and then licensed it to HDS...not the other way around.

What more proof or evidence do you need re. this? I am not saying that HDS are the authors/patent holders...just that Comodo are NOT. As we all know there is apparently no clarity as to who is re. the other pretender, ie, HDS, Magicure, etc.

I use RB Rx. It does the job VERY WELL for me so...end of as far as I am concerned. If MagiCure is from the same base then I am sure that it will be equally good. At the end of the day it is down to what works for you, on your system, price...and support...and HDS have always support me very well.

I read your entire post, and all I saw was your own personal assumptions and claims, and not a single piece of evidence or proof to backup your claims.

I am not saying you are wrong, but I also cannot conclude you are right based on your personal comments alone. So can you provide some solid and reliable external evidence to backup your claims?

    Cheers.:thumb:

Can you provide anything proof or external evidence to counter them? I contacted HDS directly (not Support) and asked the question, at the time I was thinking of purchasing either RB Rx or EAZ-Fix...BTW...the ONLY 2 apps of this sort on the market at the time, ie, NO MagiCure or Comodo advertsing this sort of app...proof in itself I would have thought to discount these two as the authors.

The reply I got from HDS was specific...they are the authors/patent holders/originatirs of the software. From EAZ-Fix I got...ZIP, Nada, nothing...which in my book speaks for itself.

As I have only a reply from HDS and the others mentioned have either not bothered to respond or where not even on the market at the time...I draw the (reasonable) conclusion that HDS are correct in what they are saying...until someone comes up with something more definitive, ie, an affidavit or sworn statement, etc.

Actually, as previously mentioned I do not give a hoot as to who the author is/who own the patents...as long as the product I have purchased/used works for me (and it does very well) & is supported/going to be developed in the future (which by all accounts both personal and otherwise) it looks like it will be.

Hope I have made myself clear as to whyI think what I think, etc.? Of, course, this is absolutely take it or leave it...it is written with this in mind...and I am sure that the forum members are big enough & clever enough to decide for themselves, without superfluous comments as to the validity or not of a view expressed, etc.

And to be sure it gets even more convoluted... :D

MagiCure, Rollback RX and EAZ-FIX all use the ACTIVATION server located at "www.EAZ-SOLUTIONS.com"...

    A step closer...o_O

However, MagiCure "about" reveals, ('www.horizon-datasys.com' all rights reserved!)

And, wonder what the "about" of Comodo Time Machine reveals...o_O

Hi guys. I had to go to my archives and look it up but the first version of Rollback i downloaded was v7.21 back on the 21/3/2006 straight from the HDS website.

As you can see I've been using Rollback for a very long time and i have never had any doubt as to who the true authors are. I have no interest in providing proof because for the people here who still believe that CTM is the author of Rollback then you might as well call a blue pen, black.:p I do find it most amusing however, that Comodo have "halted" development of CTM (not before they compeletely F**ked it up) and have decided to start afresh with a complete rewrite using "different" technology. This all happened right about the time when a post was made at HDS forums saying that legal action was in progress to stop Comodo.....very amusing indeed. The only reason im rubbing salt into the wound is because the users back at the Comodo forums are still to this day in a dream like state in believing that Comodo invented the technology behind CTM. sigh PS. I'm not providing any links in this matter. Look it up yourself. After all, im not the one confused.
Enough about CTM. Really, nobody cares here(correction...almost nobody). If your one of those still in a trance, go to the Comodo forums and sing Kum-ba-ya together. :)

This is interesting but probably explained by the fact that HDS are simply sharing the work load. So i dont believe it disproves that HDS are not the authors.

    @RollbackFrog and Baldrick

I think you'll both recognise me from my username. Unless Garry35 has anymore questions i think it's time we stopped entertaining the "other two".:D

What diff does it make who owns what and who developed what? The important thing is that the programs work,,,,everything else is moot.

i have recently been in contact with HDS the makers of Rollback Rx and possibly magicure (unproven), and this was their reply to my question posted through their official channels

    "Hi Garry.

I'm not sure how accurate this claim is as Magicure is a Rollback Rx rebrand and primarily was only meant to be sold in Israel. We have done a lot of customization for a lot of resellers in the past and Magicure is one of them.

The major difference probably is Rollback Rx is being updated frequently to be compatible with newer technology.

As mentioned on my previous reply, the free upgrade is available only if you've purchase Gold Support together with your license of Rollback Rx.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reference online to this claim by Avantgate ?"
