Customers are reporting performance issues trying to trade on Vanguard, Schwab, TD Ameritrade, Robinhood, and Merril Lynch this morning.

Starting at approximately 9 AM EST, just as the regular trading hours are about to start, users began reporting on Twitter that they could not use the company's trading sites and mobile apps.
Other users are reporting errors when attempting to connect to the trading sites, such as TD Ameriprise shown below.

"Vanguard is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues impacting our websites and phones. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank clients for their patience," Vanguard told BleepingComputer in a statement.

Most of the platforms are using Akamai as part of their connectivity, which in earlier tests conducted by BleepingComputer showed extremely high connection response times.

Using the traceroute command, which measures response times for each connection point along the way to a particular host, we can see that a host on akamai.com showed highly elevated response times when connecting to investor.vanguard.com.
