hi about restoring an drive image from an ssd to another ssd , which software did perfom the action better? i bought image for windows and i have used maciurm reflects i know there are a lot of software around image for windows or linux with few settings enabled did the job never tried to restore an drive image from a ssd to another ssd (like frome a 256gb evo pro samsung to a crucial SSD Crucial MX300 525GB ) about restoring w7 or w8 i have always deleted the registry keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices starting with \??\Volume* this did let me restore the image to a different ssd without unplug the original ssd about w10 ,it doesn't have \??\Volume* , it generate only for usb sticks , dvd burners or external hard disk so with w10 i have no experiences please you feedback thanks happy new year
I've used Macrium to replace and clone drives with system partition with no problem (done it with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). I usually unplug old SSD so I can't give advice about registry keys, you've mentioned.
