Restore a winVista *.tib to a VMware "machine"?

I create a VM, and I want to restore an Acronis home v11 backup of win vista biz into/on it. Checked FAQ, wanted to ask forum as I'm in no rush to do it wrong, cause extra work, etc.

Do I need to boot (the vm) from an Acronis boot disk, then point the Acronis app to the backup file (*.tib)? I guess I'd do this any number of ways, making the *.tib file accessible to the vm, right?

Reboot when restore complete, and life is good, eh?

Like I said, no hurry on my end, so any gotchas, holes in my plan, etc. appreciated!

That can be done. However, please notice that if the image was taken from a physical machine, or a different brand of virtual machine, the restored system is unlikely to boot because of different (virtual) hardware.
