Are there manual uninstall isntructions somewhere? I found that I have an old copy of 3.5 on my computer when I tried it out in late 2005. I haven't figured out how to remove it. When I go to Add/Remove Software under Control Panel, it says that the software has already been removed (which is certainly not true) and asks if I want to remove the item from the Add/Remove software list.

I go to the Ewido page and search for the issue, it tells me to use Add/Remove Software, and if that doesn't work, run the uninstall program in the program directory. There's no uninstall that I can see:

Volume in drive C has no label.

No, it is not active. I just want to remove the files and registry items if possible.

Have you installed any other version on your PC other than 3.5 ??

The main reason I ask is because not only were you using ewido "in late 2005"....you were using some version this past April of 2006.

If you have not installed another version and if you have a copy of 3.5....perhaps if you re-install 3.5 over the top of itself you can then successfully un-install 3.5 :doubt:

    Just a thought,
    Bubba

No, no other versions that I know of.

The "late 2005" was just from my memory and the fact that Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel states that it was "Last Used on 12/4/05." As far as I know I've installed it only one time, unless it performed some sort of update on its own. I don't recall using it any time recently. I checked and I don't have the original downloaded files, and don't see version 3.5 available on the web site, so I'm not sure how I would go about installing and uninstalling 3.5 again.

Hi, folks: May I suggest the following two(2) methods?
First, boot into safe mode, then go to C:/program file/ewido, you may be able to delete the files on by one. Or Secondly, using third party app to unistall the program, go to www.softpedia.com and search the app called your uninstaller 2006, the trial version has 21 days. Follow the instruction, you may be able to delete not only files but also registry. Good luck.

Attached is a log of the changes that Ewido 3.5 made to my system when I installed it. (This log was created by Total Uninstall.) You can use this log file as a guide to manual removal of Ewido 3.5 on your system.

The installation directory (i.e. C:\Program Files\Ewido) may vary from yours. Also, you won't be able to remove the registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root without first changing the permissions on the key, so don't bother with it if you aren't comfortable doing so.

My goodness, that's a lot of registry items. There are times I wish software would just save things in a .ini file that you can delete with everything else. Nothing like a good "del *.*" to uninstall a program.

It's really not that bad at all, as software (of this type) goes. You can't blame ewido at all; it's just the way Windows works. The main things found in the registry here are the ewido shell extension, configuration settings, uninstall information, and driver/service registrations. Among those, only the configuration settings can possibly be stored in a file.
