I am trying to make a USB attached device bootable as recovery medium. I tried with both a USB stick (256 MB) and an actual HD (100GB). The recovery media builder happily copies stuff onto these and then claims to now have created a bootable recovery medium, but when I then test this by removing/detaching my HD and trying to boot from that medium (which - according to the BIOS should work - USB is at least listed as bootable device) all I get is a message "BOOTMGR is missing".

What am I missing here? Why is the USB device not bootable?

I tried with both TI 11 Home and the newer TI 2009 Home (=v12.0).

    Michael,

    What OS are you using?

Media Builder seems to very often create non-bootable flashdrives. This is because it doesn't write the MBR code to the drive. It may leave it empty or with whatever it originally had on it. It also seems to have problems with flashdrives containing non-standard partition configurations.

You can take a look at these links (in the Creating a Bootable Flashdrive - Alternate Solutions section) and also the link in my signature for possible solutions.

What I would like to see:

A bundle of True Image Home with a USB-stick that really is bootable. Maybe with True Image Home already installed on it.
