    Hello....
Please take a look at my log and tell me what I need to do to rid myself of these parasites. I ran AVG and Adaware but they can only tell me I'm infected with this crap rather than ridding me of them.
Here's my log......I hope i did this properly.... err, I'm not very proficient with computers so it would help if you advised me as if I were a small child..lol

The following are what I'm dealing with...

    Trojan Horse PSW.Briss.D, Briss.A and Briss.E
    Trojan Horse Downloader.Keenval.E
    Trojan Horse Downloader.S...

Also, when you say download hijackthis to it's own folder or a seperate folder because it makes copies or backups....what exactly does this mean? doesn't it download into a folder by itself when you open it with winzip?

    Hi Priosanach,

The Unzipped folder will be fine. ;)

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    Download and run CWShredder
Use the Fix button and follow the instructions provided by the program.

Then reboot into safe mode and delete:
    c:\windows\system\update.exe

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Peiter...

Thanks for your advice. I deleted as ordered the files in Hijackthis but I don't know exactly how to delete c:\windows\system\update.exe.

I rebooted into safe mode but am unable to find this. I tried start/run and tried searching for it.....what am I doing wrong there?

Also, I ran CWshredder as per your advice and AVG and they both come up clean! no more viruses or trojans it looks like.

Here's my most recent log file:

It was certainly present in your first log (check the running processes), but it is gone in your last log.
That means the file could still be there, but it is no longer active so if your scanners find it they should be able to remove it without problems. (Maybe already did that?)
Or the file could be hidden. Check here how to "unhide" those: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=192

    Regards,
