When will ReactOS be a worthwhile Windows alternative (if it can catch up)? What, other than research and WINE, does it contribute to at its current state?

I tried ReactOs some years ago: it was an Alpha. Some years elapsed and it is again an Alpha. I wish to see it developed, but now I'm waiting.

Each time i want to test ReactOS, it just BSOD. As much as I like the idea, I can't be bothered to go any further than that. Maybe sometime in the future...

i would be interested in actually buying a license for say $100 or $200 when/if there is an reliable OS that could run all my XP programs. i don't want Win7 or Win8 and looks like Ubuntu has decided to sell out their customers privacy. I looked at BSD varieties but migth be too difficult for me to learn.

(and i think there are millions of others like me too.)
