Razer has announced that it's bringing optical keyboards to laptops for the first time, starting with a new model of the Razer Blade 15, which was first introduced earlier this year.

According to Razer, optical keyboard switches offer instant actuation and tactile feedback, which should give players an advantage while gaming. The keyboard uses an infrared light beam to detect when a key is pressed, which is faster and more precise than conventional keyboard switches. Razer says actuation should happen at just 1mm with 55 grams of actuation force.
Additionally, the keyboard features N-Key Rollover anti-ghosting to prevent duplicate keystrokes from being registered accidentally.

As mentioned above, if you want to get a laptop with optical keyboard switches right now, it'll have to be the Blade 15. More specifically, only the model with the 9th-generation Intel Core i7, GeForce RTX 2070 GPU, and 512GB SSD offers the option for the optical keyboard, and it costs $2,649. That model also comes with a 240Hz 1080p display and 16GB of RAM. Razer says optical keyboards will come to more of its laptops in 2020.
