now, which scan engine is better than the other?
Scan my system using Vet scan engine and it finished after 43 min. (on an Intel Celeron 300MHz, 128 MB RAM) WOW
Will try InoIT engine soon.. ;)

I trust that no one here is confusing this product with EZ Antivirus! eTrust v7 is meant for professional IT management and may be expensive for individuals when it comes time to purchase and update. Pricing is for volume purchases. :p

As I understand it, reading the information, ETrust v7 is free, no purchase necessary. Updates are free for life, however long that is in the AV industry.

In any case, I plan to use it for as long as I can get those signature updates. Hopefully that will be for a long time. I've got one AV doing a more effective job than my old AV and backup did prior to my downloading ETrust.

Well, I admit this is most interesting. I can't find anything at the CA website about the promotion but the FTP links are still available. So I guess it is free!

If indeed it's the normal version (all OSes rolled into one download), it should work fine. But at a little over 15 MB, I have my doubts.

Or if you open up the e Truscanner> sig update optionsst local scanner > schedule everything is greyed out on mine and nothing ticked. > Incoming There is a tick on the "

Preform fast downloading" with a ftp site in the download box ftpav2003.ca.com

    Is yours like that ?

Thats how mine is too SPC, when I click 'update now' it doesn't even attempt to update, no firewall alerts and no outgoing connection.

I think I may have to have some of the services running instead of strict on demand only.

Thanks SPC but I'm not using Look n' Stop firewall.

I'll maybe try running it as resident and try updating then.

    :)

If you have spybot search and destroy > Tools>System Start> Uncheck " Ino Task" (This should stop scheduled Scans and Signature Updates)
To manually update > Right click on Monitor on task bar > download signiatures now.

Think that will do it :)

I've fought with the automatic update, tried everything suggested, and finally gave up and decided to keep using the manual download at

    http://support.ca.com/Download/virussig.html

Updating every other day only takes a couple of minutes to get both Vet and InoculateIt signatures. Some day, maybe I'll be competent enough to figure out what the problem is and fix it.

    >Edit: Duh. It did recognize Eicar. I just have to figure out how to turn on the alerts.

Very good AV ! But how to turn on the alerts ?

It give me no alerts when it clean/kill/rename a virus.

    Tested with W32.Bugbear
