Tree, that's what I thought too but it doesn't work in Active@. Only in Windows.

DriveImage XML needs not only the files included in the cab that treehouse786 posted but also the files "wow32.dll" and "ntvdm.exe"; if you copy them from the windows folder in the same folder where driveimage resides it will work fine.

    Hi Brian,
I just checked and yes it does work, but it also needs the "apphelp.dll" and not only the "wow32.dll" and "ntvdm.exe".

    sorry
but are you talking about add

TeraByte Unlimited Image for Windows V2.66 or runtime DriveImage XML V2.30?

    make it clear please

for TeraByte Unlimited Image for Windows V2.66
is enough to install it , and copy the C\Programs\TeraByte Unlimited\Image for Windows\V2 -> in the actvie disk ? right?
i don't know where terabyte store the license or serial , maybe in the registry...

    for DriveImage XML V2.30?
it needs only "apphelp.dll" and not only the "wow32.dll" and "ntvdm.exe".

I was talking about Driveimage xml.

-for TeraByte Unlimited Image for Windows V2.66
run the "PE Builder pluging installer" and it will help you create a folder with all the necessary files.

    -for DriveImage XML V2.30
extract the files included in the cab in a folder and also add, in the same folder, the 3 files "apphelp.dll","ntvdm.exe" and "ntvdm.exe" (you'll find them in the "c:\windows\system32\" directory).

Greetings! Scott asked me to look into some of the anomalies he's had with a few things and he steered me here.

First of all, IFW is fully standalone app, and as such, does everything it's supposed to do. I'm missing a lot of details here (haven't followed the thread yet) but here's what I know...

If you use IFW's PE creator, it creates 2-3 files necessary for operation, depending on what you request. One is "imagew.exe," one is "IFW.ini" (which contains your current program DEFAULT settings), and if you ask it will create your REGISTRATION info to carry along with the portable environment (imagew.ini). When I place these 3-files on my WinPE (v2 or v3) Active@ Boot Disk, the IFW portable environment runs flawlessly.

Until I read/investigate further, there should never be a reason for PHYLOCK to fail (or even be needed) when imaging from the Active@ Boot environment... PHYLOCK or VSS is only needed when imaging from a disk that's being actively modified by the running OS (WinPE at this time). If something on your ABD is running and doing things to your disk that's trying to be imaged, it shouldn't be. The Windows disk your trying to image looks just like any other secondary disk you might have.

Let me look further and see if I can make any sense of the incompatibility you guys are experiencing. Bare with me...

This is normal since vss is not started with Active @ Boot Disk.
It cannot be done with those two since they require their drivers to be injected in the winpe. Use Partition Wizard instead of those if you want to use the Active @ Boot Disk, or build your personal PE with the programs you want.

but i could be wrong but for example EaseUS Partition Master needs drivers to work online ,under OS
but via recovery cd , i guess they don't need them

Both Acronis and Easeus need their drivers to work.

This can be done with a plugin named HWPnP but not with Active @ Boot Disk since they do not include it in that PE.

advice Try to create your own WinPE. It is easier than it seems

    you are welcome
