I've gotten hold of a list of sites of various data-brokers and I really want to opt out on some, if not all, of them.

However -- the opt out often requires that you give them more personal info. One website requires you send a copy of your driver's license (with photo and license number redacted) to them in order to opt out.

I hate to just take a leap of faith on this. How can I know if these opt out procedures are legit? The overarching sense is "just trust them." Yet they are asking users to hand over legit data to them.

Would you do it? How can you know your data is safe with these firms whose goal it is to sell your data? Just don't know what to think.

    Thanks guys.
