What engine version is KAV 6 based on? Just curious as to OA AV+ using KAV engine version 5.0.0.30 and wanted to know if that is the latest version.

I honestly don't know how much the engine change from 5 to 6. Going forward I suspect there will indeed be changes.

Yeah just curious because for sure I know that the new KAV 6 engine runs with lower memory usage than the previous engine of KAV 5.

KAV 6 engine is the latest.
And yes it works far faster than KAV 5 engine. Upcoming engine v7 will even be more fast.

Actually KAV 7 beta is out already. So v7 is here already.

It's not really KAV v7. It contains some features which will be released when the beta starts. This is just a pre pre release to play with

kav engine is part of the bases, (pure engine) and unified, so v5 and v6 use the same engine, but from version to version there are modifications to it outside of the common part (example, iswift, ichecker, v7 heuristics...). i tihnk that v4 uses the same engine as v5 & v6.

Well maybe to be more specific, OA AV+ shows KAV engine version 5.0.0.30, has anyone spotted out another AV suite that incorporates the KAV engine and having a newer one than the KAV engine version 5.0.0.30?

It doesn't work like that, dja2k, for example F-Secure's engine version # was higher than Kaspersky.....even 6 long before 6.0 was even released.

Okay I get that, but someone mentioned that if you go checkout the exact drivers, per say, KLIF.sys, that it states a file version on it. Can we go that route to find out if there are newer files?

I use KIS and the current klif.sys version number is 6.12.10.261, but to be honest, I don't think that's going to help you much. That file was updated in January by the way.

See that does help, my file version is 6.12.10.150, so that is a newer file.

Well forget the engine, but rather KAV files then.
