Qubes OS 4.0.2 has been released! https://www.qubes-os.org/news/2020/01/02/qubes-4-0-2/ An up to date installation will be the same as a new point release, but new installations are much quicker because you don't have to update a lot. Also, because a newer Linux kernel is already included, it will be able to install on newer hardware where the old ISO could be unable to install without manually adding a newer kernel into the ISO.
I am using QubesOS latest release since a few days, my daily driver. I am so amazed, I mean I never tried it before but luckily my hardware was ok and it is so much better in everything when compared to a more casual linux distro with a bunch of virtualbox machines. VM (qubes) management is beyond incredible. Very happy with it.
NitroPad X230 passes hardware certification for Qubes 4.0! https://www.qubes-os.org/news/2020/03/04/nitropad-x230-qubes-certification/ Yes, QubesOS makes using multiple VM's really user friendly, and more secure as well.

I legit hope Qubes OS becomes more user friendly. I think it could be big one day, if it was just easier to use.
It slowly is, for example there is now a built-in updater tool which can update all your templates at once.

True, though Qubes might benefit more since it is a much smaller project, both financially and number of developers. I couldn't find a financial report of KDE, but LibreOffice for example had an income of almost 1.4 million euros in 2020, that is almost 10 times the amount Qubes OS gets.
It's still lacking 3D graphics and important software like MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, and games ofc. So hard to use for majority of stuff normal people do. Although works for browsing I guess. https://forum.qubes-os.org/t/app-vm-graphics-performance/1255/3 Although some users have achieved something with gpu passthrough so make sure to read all the links in depth
