puter freezes w/spywareblaster v3.2

    I have looked thru the forum w/o finding this problem.
    after installing, when I click on the desktop icon for spywareblaster, the computer freezes hard. I have to power down to recover.
    running xp home w/sp2, 2ghz, 512mb mem, 80gb hd, hi-speed conn.
    I tried 2 diff download sites, inst and uninst then reinst with same outcome. no error messages on either downloading or installing.
    I inst spywareguard and that works fine.
    so where do I start?
