purchase apps for android

    When I try to purchase an app for my android phone, it hangs. Apparently, you can't purchase an app without syncing. I don't want to sync anything on my phone. Is there a workaround for this? Is this just happening because I'm purchasing in the Android Market? Is there a way to purchase non-free apps outside the Android Market?

    Does anyone know if I can use a prepaid credit card to purchase Android apps?

    Does anyone have any advice for encrypting an Android smartphone? I had a Blackberry, and you can set it to encrypt everything everytime the phone is locked. Is there anyway to achieve comparable security for an Android phone?

    Robin A, since an APP is software made for mobile devices, this is the proper forum. :)
