I just installed Dr.Web 7.0 Beta (without Firewall) on my 8 year old Windows XP Pro 32 bit SP3 Desktop. The installation went smooth but I forgot to do screen captures of the installation windows but I do not remember there being much different from the Dr.Web 6.0 Installer.

The Dr.Web 7.0 Scanner is still in Russian and only part of the program is functional. Dr.Web said that I have already registered for a Demo and cannot get another Demo key. I did register for one for a Dr.Web 6.0 Trial several months ago. I E-Mailed Dr.Web and am waiting for a Beta Demo key.

As a precaution, I made a Full Image (Image for DOS) of the Windows System Partition prior to installing Dr.Web 7.0 Beta and backed up the Full Image to two locations.

    Some screenshots:

I have got my Beta Test License activated. I did not know that the needed license file was located the the Dr.Web 6.0 Beta folder.

Today or tomorrow we will be released a new beta distribution which fixes some bugs. For example, incorrect display download the virus database.

How long will it be before the scanner is in English?

Also how long will it be before SpIDer Guard can be enabled?

    Thanks in Advance.

Here are some screenshots of most of the Dr.Web Antivirus 7.0 Beta installation screens. I don't see any significant difference in the install steps from version 6.0.

Reboot is required. Antivirus installs important drivers, such as packet filter, spider. And for fully initialize antivirus components, you must reboot system.

    I tried....lol
Today "spideragent" crashed after the last update, rendering Dr Web V7 inoperative.
I gave them a bug report, so we will see the results shortly.
I am not giving up on the good Doctor (at least not yet)...lol :D
    Cheers :D

I might give up on it. It's been 2 weeks since the release and I still can't understand what all the buttons and options mean in the new scanner. 4 updates have been released for the beta, newest today and no mentions about english language.

Also it seems (according to the beta news) that 7.0 doesn't have mentionable new technology that would result in responding faster to threats, detecting more malware or preventing malicious operations. I believe it was in 2008 with the release of 5.0, when there was such new innovations like the fly-code or the origins tracing. Since then, it has been optimizations, tweaks or some modifications to the already existing components. No HIPS, no sandboxing, no cloud-technology, no behavior blocking or anything else in 7.0.. or was in 6.0.

I can't see how this new version would improve the protection of my computer. It will make the protection lighter and faster though. I've used DrWeb for many years but currently it's very difficult for me to rationalize or explain to myself why I'm paying for an antivirus.
