The last post at the PS forum was by someone grumbling that he had paid for a license but was unable to activate the program. He had emailed them but received no reply. Then the entire website disappears. Hmmmm....

PS forum was really kinda dead for a long while.
No news or postings from PS developer.
It appears another very good and promising app may have bit the dust.
    Shame really.

It may actually be a good omen. I've read rumors over the past months that ProSecurity was being transformed into something else. Some whois info: Real-time Defender. Note the "Record created on 2008/6/27". Time will tell.

Hmmm... I wonder what happens to those who paid for licenses to Prosecurity? Abandoned or what? And what of those who bought licenses but were unable even to activate PS? Finally, what of those who used the PS forum to request support, but never received any?

If a renamed/revamped version of PS is offered by the same developer who deserted his support forum and customers for several months, will I want to buy it? Would you?

I hope for the best, but...

Ah, when you go to the site now you get a message that ProSecurity has been purchased, and the new name is Real Time Defender.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

The brought out of ProSecurity may be the reason for the silence of the website and the forum.

I think one will be interested in PS/ RT Defender only if its development is continued by same person. I am not sure if the developers are changed, PS will be able to maintain its superior position among other HIPS.

Anybody know how I can get the trial version of PS 1.43? I cannot find it anywhere. I don't want to wait for rtdender to get up and running as that may take a while but I guess I may have to.

    Thanks,
    Toby

I still wonder if the "sale" of PS to RTD is anything more than a stalling tactic. The brutal fact of the matter is that there has not been any SUBSTANTIVE response from a PS/RTD representative since several months ago. They are incognito. They are clammed up. They are invisible. They do not answer messages. They do not post their forums.

For the moment, at least, PS/RTD is "vapor-ware." I HOPE the situation changes. I really do. In the meantime, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole (even if I could, but I can't).

Decent alternatives include but are not limited to...
    OnlineArmor
    DriveSentry
    Comodo Defense+

You know, i thought i had found the corner on the best HIPS around with first System Safety Monitor then the introduction of EQSecure.

I had nothing but probs when ProSec entered the fold but then came along version 1.43 and i couldn't believe my eyes! This was a real contender and even topped the HIPS lists in publishing tests.

But now this. I don't know what the future holds for it but if it's any consolation i can only do like others and hope it doesn't become a flash-in-the-pan from the past. Why? Because HIPS are great, they tap into sections and bring to the user "real'time" reports/alerts as to what really is going on and is made life incredibly more enjoyable and safe when using Window systems.

    Activity on RTDefender's website

There seams to be some activity on RT Defender's website (ProSecurity)
    Only I don't speak Chinese.

Edit: Although I do not speak Chinese, It sure don't look like a security software website.

The RTDefender's website randomly links to other Chinese websites. If ProSecurity is really purchased by an American company, it would not be linked to Chinese websites.

Where did anyone ever say it was purchased by an american company.

Frankly I don't care what country they are in as long as they do business in a straight forward manner. Just starting to seem like a long time, to at least put up a website, with some explanations.

As of 07/18/2008, the rtdefender website no longer has the message about supporting licensees of Prosecurity. Instead, that website now is in Chinese, and it does NOT appear to have anything whatsoever to do with Prosecurity or Real-time Defender.

Maybe things will change in the future, but for now it seems that licensees of Prosecurity have been had.
