    Thanks Creer.
    Soon I will install and try it again.
    And report back. ;)
    I know that Ilya will try to help, I have seen his responses.

    I agree with you.
    As I said I will continue to use it.

    I will continue to guard my copy of FD-ISR (original), and use Shadow Defender which is a real gem. I am going to try Avast! 5 on one of my snapshots, as soon as it's released. I will continue to use NOD32 at least until my subscription runs out. Then depending how Avast!5 impresses me I'll decide which to keep.
    I'll keep:
    SpywareBlaster
    Outpost FW
    Firefox
    MBAM (paid)
    SAS
    Mailwasher
    PDF-Xchange
    Sandboxie

    Not use:
    Adobe Reader
    anything from PC tools
    McAfee
    Norton
    AVG
    ZoneAlarm

    Head over to the privacy/"other security topics" forums, that's a part of it for some of us.

    I think Wiki says it all:

    The following features are built into or enabled by default in Google Chrome, but are removed or disabled by default in Iron:

    * A unique ID for identifying the user.[4][7]
    * A timestamp of when the browser was installed.[7][4]
    * RLZ identifier, an encoded string sent to Google on search queries or every 24 hours.[7][8]
    * Google-hosted error pages when a server isn't found.
    * Automatic address bar search suggestions.
    * Bug tracking system, sends information about crashes or errors.
    * Google Updater automatic installation.
    * DNS pre-fetching is disabled by default.[4]
    * Does not load a Google search page a few seconds after the browser opens

    I recommend SRWare Iron.

    I don't think I'll be using Chrome or Windows 7 until much later in the year, maybe around November/December. & only Chrome if it is bundled with the OS (as it is on some Sony Vaios I believe).

    Ahh.. I thought the only issue with chrome was the client ID thing, which can easily be removed.
    But there's other stuff as well.. I didn't want to use Iron because I thought they didn't have a beta version (with extensions), but I found it so I've switched to that.

    Thanks :)

    EDIT: Iron was a bit buggy so I went back to chrome, removed the ID of course.

    I will not use products by Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, Google, Comodo.

    I will not use these specific products. Adobe Reader, Sun Java, HIPS products, Sandboxing products.

    Products I like but DON'T use: Kaspersky AntiVirus. (AV only, I dislike suites).

    I laugh at people that use a Microsoft operating system but "swear" they will never use Microsoft Security products. When in essence a lot of Microsoft security is already in the recent OS's.

    Microsoft know their own OS the best, and they have a team of coders who are practically forced to make full use of it's API. If it came to trusting code, I can trust them over 3rd parties to make full use of that API, rather that shoveling in hooks/hacks/etc just to make things work (a-la many HIPS products) which are notable when these system instabilities occur.

    giving up completely on third party firewalls, windows and router are fine protection. iobit 360, malwarebytes real time (still keep as scanner)
    and anything that includes bloat i don't need. mind not made up yet as over 18 months license left but may give up on eset after 5 years for mse, been quite disappointed for over a year now.

    I have never used Chrome so I am not sure what it opens with. When you open Iron it has a speed dial page. Of course you can set your Opening/Homepage to anything on it. I think that's what Wiki means.

    You can never always tell with Wackopedia though LOL o_O

    ;)

    A number of off topic posts have been culled from the thread. If people wish to have those discussions, by all means do so, but in a thread focused on that topic.

    Now..., back to Programs you will/not use in 2010....

    After some more research of DefenseWall I have decided in the next two months I will try to add DefenseWall to my setup.
