If one uses BlackSpear's sticky message to configure NOD32 then what about the other profiles? I am particularly concerned about the right mouse click option when using Windows Explorer. Is this option using the settings that have been setup with BlackSpear's thread?

Ok I have the following Profiles:

    Context Menu Profile
    Control Center Profile
    Control Center Profile-Diskettes
    Control Center Profile-In-Depth analysis
My Profile <--No Items in Profile Tab are enabled
    Control Center Profile-Local
    - Run this profile in Cleaning mode
    - Use this profile ...
    Local is enabled

Why in the last profile Control Center Profile - Local are the items under the Setup tab NOT the same as the other Profiles? In other words under Scan only Files, Boot Sector and System Memory is enabled Archives down to Alternative NTFS streams are unchecked

Re: Profiles abound and excluded files

Is there a thread somewhere in the forums that help explain what each of these profiles are normally used for?

Also I have excluded several files which are generating false positive alerts (had submitted these files several times last year to NOD) yet each time a scheduled scan is run these files still generate an alert. Why?

What makes you assume they are false positives? They can be potentially dangerous applications and I've also come across inquiries from clients who wanted to remove detection for adware even if it actually submitted some sensitive information over the web. The best would be if you send those files to support[at]eset.com with a link to this thread.

This file is an INI file for a File Server in an IRC client that I use.

I have done that several times to another thread regarding these same files and heard nothing whatsoever from ESET.

    :(

Could you please do this again, I'm sure Marcos will keep an eye out for it this time.

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

Well I have sent it to samples@eset.com again along with this thread and as well as a thread back from Sept 05 regarding this file.
