Even if I shut down ProcessGuard, pgaccount.exe will still be running. Programs will still need my permission to excecute.
    Why is this so?

Providing you have protection enabled when you close the GUI ProcessGuard is still working you just will not see any alerts.

I do have protection enabled when closing ProcessGuard.
What do you mean by alerts? I am still alerted by programs trying to execute, etc.

Sorry I must have been on a different planet this morning :)

To stop the alerts with the GUI closed you need to set the permit always in your security list. If new programs are being installed whilst the GUI is off you will be alerted and depending on what you allow / block the security list will be updated.

What i don't understand is why even after I closed the GUI, the process itself is not stopped.

Is there any safe way of stopping ProcessGuard?

Yes, You can right click the systray icon or in the GUI and unselect protection enabled.

Taking that I unselect "Protection Enabled" and reboot, will the checkbox remain unchecked?

Yes it should remain unchecked and the PG icon will show that PG is disabled.

Thanks for the clarification, though I can't say I like it.

  10. Chiawaikian , if you want it to be shut down as much as possible you need to go to the services panel and disable/shutdown the Diamond CS service there, then reboot.

Why isn't there any option to turn off PG entirely?
I find this very lacking. Otherwise, PG is a very powerful and effecient product.

Just untick Protection Enabled (as Pilli said)

No need to reboot, no need to do ANYTHING else. As soon as you apply this option, PG is fully disabled.
