Using HDM15 Suite, I have previously created a Back Up Capsule as a partition on an external 3TB USB drive.

There is space on the drive to enlarge the current capsule, which is about 2295 GB, with an Unallocated Space of 196 GB available on the drive. (There are also two further partitions on the drive, formatted as NTFS). I would like to add this currently unallocated space to the back up capsule. Using the option to Enlarge the capsule, the process rapidly fails with a message that "File System has allocation errors due to cross-linked files. Run OS built-in tools for checking and correcting this kind of errors". But the capsule is not recognised by Windows Disk Management as an active partition so the option to run such tools is not available.

Any ideas how to correct these "errors" and so enlarge the back up capsule?

    Thank you.

OS buit-in tools: maybe they´re referring to chkdsk.

    Hi RobinA,

Thanks for this. I agree that it refers to chkdsk.

But how can you run chkdsk on a partition that Windows (7 in my case) does not "see"? I have run chkdsk on the two other partitions on the drive and no problems found!

I suppose you have to boot from the capsule and work from there, but I don´t know the details. I never used the capsule, I keep the backups in USB disks.
