I am having major problems with an NTFS erase/format using Paragon NTFS drivers via Disk Utility. Specifics: new, unformatted/raw hitachi 500gb mechanical drive mounted in an Optibay on a 2012 MBP running Mountain Lion. The process has gotten about halfway done, no beach ball or unresponsive program, but it has taken over an hour to get to this point, and the time estimate is just increasing, with no movement on the progress bar. It is in the "Partitioning" phase. Is this expected behavior? What should I do?
