I downloaded the trial version and when I went to scan most of the files could
not be checked because it said they are "locked".what does that mean?My comp must have had a virus of some kind and so I had to factory restore it (because info was disappearing from my comp ,even Restore point was a blank)and when I reinstalled the NOD it said the same thing."files locked".I use windows xp.I really like this program but can't seem to use it.any ideas?I really like this site,it's like the bible for computer users lol.

you should expect to see some locked files - these are normal - if you take a little while to setup NOD32 as per Blackspear's extra settings - see the thread here:

You should be in good shape with the program.

What you are seeing is quite normal. Many new users worry about this ,you are not alone, I had the same worries when I first moved to NOD32.

Those files are locked/protected so that nothing can interfere with them.
Most Antispyware/AV and Firewall files are protected in this way.

Go here and you will find a useful thread for the best settings in NOD......

Those locked files are those with very little chance of infection, so ignor those blue "Locked" messages on the Scaning log page. Its normal.
