PROBLEM WITH BACKUP LOCATION

I have an external hard disk connected to usb port wherein I have created a backup location and set 7 days as my storage period. I have taken a full backup and since been taking incremental ones daily.
Surprisingly my location conatins 20 backups from 8th Feb to 20th feb which is more than 7 days.
I now tried to create a full backup and expected the old full backup and the incremental backups to be deleted. I got the prompt (image attached)
Can someone explain the use of limiting options in backup location?
