Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Hello, I would like to know why after every cleaning, my free disk space decrease. It should clean free disk space so it should increase no? Could you please explain that
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 strange. Could you give use your free space amount BEFORE and AFTER cleanup ? For @Kupo, command line for next version
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Just a strange thing. Four days ago, I refreshed my Windows 8 OS. Privazer was the only one program completely removed/deleted. Almost all other programs, including MS Office 2010, were moved to Windows Old Folder. The only one program left standing untouched was ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner from Privazer. Go figure.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 I don't know how to understand this. Maybe it can not move PrivaZer, so that it removes it... ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner is just a .exe file, so it is not removed when refreshing Windows.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Is it best to remove old privazer ini files and create new ones when moving to a new version with more features such as 1.7.1 to 1.8.1?
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 No, you do not need. New options are set to "default" values. It can help to click on "Options > Express" (main PrivaZer screen) to configure what's new.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 We need Privazer expertise to help us to with the following issue: It's from a different thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=2205723#post2205723
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Very interesting, indeed. Most of the mechanisms used to store cookies are already cleaned by PrivaZer (look into "Cookies" in the scan list of PrivaZer) but we will have a deeper look into this and keep us informed of what we can do.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Sorry Zach. Yes, that's a good suggestion. We do not know really what to offer exactly in the donors version. Maybe auto-update ? Thanks for suggestions.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 I've read the following statement and would like to hear Privazer's opinion: "They will also know about things that cannot be erased because sectors have been marked as bad (but they can still look at them) and HPAs (Host Protected Areas)."
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 If I can infer at the context (where'd that quote come from?) they are talking about swapped out bad sectors to the Host Protected Area. There is also the Drive Control Overlay. These areas can be wiped with BCWipe Total Wipeout, but it can't be done from within Windows. Privazer can't do anything with them unless they release a stand alone, bootable program, IMO. PD
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 It's about forensic investigators that would (a) make an image of a disk, using EnCase or a modified Linux kernel based system, and (b) look at each and every sector of the disk.
Re: PrivaZer 1.7.1 Just one of many articles: https://viaforensics.com/computer-forensic-ediscovery-glossary/what-is-host-protected-area.html Search - How to image Host Protected Area and How to image Device Configuration Overlay
