Just wondering. If I open Privazer as Admin, I have the Donors version. If I open Privazer as a regular user, I have Free Privazer - "Get the Donors Version":
Hello, @peters4000 really sorry for delay. We will do our best to support Microsoft Bitlocker encryption as soon as possible. Our roadmap in brief : winapp2.ini support encrypted drive support, Microsoft Bitlocker encryption command lines shadow copy ADS @zmechys could you check if you have "data.ini" in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\PrivaZer directory ? if yes, check if you have a "SERIAL" and a "EMAIL" entry in it ?
I've just needed to re-enter my Donors info not only when I'm logged in as Admin, but also when I'm logged in as a regular user. No problems. Anyway, Privazer is the best Cleaning Software in the world. Thank you for that.
Privazer Team: Having to re-add the Doner Info when upgrading the application is kind of a PITA. Can't you just stick it in a reg key or something?
I have been using CCleaner and Glary Utilities for many years . I came across Privazer while reading Wilders Security Forum , and after trying it I was astounded at how much privacy-related junk it found that those other utilities , good as they are , were just not picking up I thought I was reasonably well informed about privacy issues , but I had never even heard of ShellBags until I read the Privazer section of this forum . I have downloaded and run the ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner and need some advice about the scan results I got :- 1264 ShellBags found 0 traces of deleted folders All of the boxes are already pre-ticked .... does this mean that I can safely delete ALL of these , or do I need to go through the list and decide what I need to keep ? Can I just click on "Clean" and be certain that nothing vital will be deleted ? Sorry if this is a dumb question , I looked around the Privazer website but couldn't find any kind of user manual .... ... only the one for the main Privazer application. Many thanks to anyone who can answer this for me , and more thanks , and kudos , to Wilders for a great forum , and to the people at Privazer for an astoundingly good tool ! " Keep on rocking in the free world .... Ha ! "
Hello, @PaulyDefran 1. Do you use the portable version? 2. If not, did you choose to remove all your settings when uninstalling previous version? @quietman when installing PrivaZer, you are asked to choose your "vital" settings (setup is done through ~10 steps) so you only have to make the choices once. Then you can run your scans. If you don't want PrivaZer to clean one category like "System" or "free space", you can uncheck it or look into more "options" by clicking on "options" for that category. We tried to make it as easy as possible to use from basic users to advanced ones. If you want to verify/modify your "vital" settings , simply click on "Options" on the main PrivaZer's window. Hope it helps.
I don't see a response to my query about the clean up of notification area icons in the customize menu and mft related matters. I know from researching the issue that notification area entries are difficult to remove from many Windows 7 installations and they include the Privazer entry. Since that time I've come across a one click removal method which is much easier than the one I mentioned. Download and run the Notification_Area_Cleaner.zip from the attachment on this webpage. http://www.7tutorials.com/how-clean-notification-area-icon-cache
Thanks Willmar, sorry for delay. We will check this out. "taskkill /im explorer.exe /f" is a bit abrupt anyway
hello all, i am having a problem where the scan gets stuck at 51.8% ----> 51.8 is wiggling left and right i have uninstalled, restarted, downloaded, and installed again with no effect.
Hello Augustine, maybe you should include in your post the screenshot you sent us by email few minutes ago. I'm preparing a modified version. It will be ready in a few minutes and will be posted here.
here it is : http://www.privazer.com/privazer_free-augustine.exe Install it and keep us informed if it still freezes.
seems to be working now, moved onto USN entry numbers. if I have more issues i'll post here. Thanks alot
ok I don't think I phrased my question very well. Is " ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner" included in the main Privazer ? I can see that when I run Privazer , cleaning of shell bags in "Windows history/Used files & directories" is checked and done , but when I run ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner after Privazer , the analysis is still finding over 1200 ShellBags Is it safe to clean all of these ? I don't want to delete anything important by mistake but I DO want to remove anything privacy related. Thanks for any help or advice you can give .
Good question. yes, " ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner" (with default options) is included in Privazer so that PrivaZer will delete shellbags that can reveal your activities on your PC. If you want to delete more Shellbags because you want more privacy protection, you can use " ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner" to remove these 1200 Shellbags (it is safe to remove them). Hope it helps.
Downloaded latest PrivaZer update ( v2.25 ) today ( Windows 7 Home , Intel I3 ) after completed scan , clicked on " cookies " option " Show all " was displayed , clicked there to filter - nothing .... application hanging ..... ended process from Task Manager uninstalled , then clean installed v2.24.2 which runs fine Anyone else having problems with new version ?
no problems, all ran fine. but when I click internet browsing before the scan I see the list of browsers and after the scan I see a list of Results: I don't see "Show all"
jwcca Thanks for the reply , and my apologies. It was in the "cookies" section , after scanning , that the filtering option appears and NOT " internet browsing " .... Sorry ! Clicking on the "Show All" box caused the hang. I've just been through it again , I'm on version 2.24.2 so I can't reproduce the problem just now. I was going to wait for some feedback before trying again with v2.25. Of course it could have been something totally different that crashed it , but I didn't have anything else running at the time . BTW how did you take and attach the screenshots ? Any particular image format needed ? Thanks again .
Hi , and Happy New Year to The PrivaZer Team and all at Wilders I am still struggling with ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner ( see my recent posts on here ) Here is a typical result for me :- After analyzing with ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner..........1255 traces then after running _PrivaZer .... ....... ........ .......... 1197 traces then after cleaning with ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner .... using default options , then scanning again ......... 1193 traces I could REALLY use some help with this ! I feel that ShellBag Analyzer & Cleaner needs some tutorial on how to use it , even if it were only a few lines of suggestions , or examples at least. I noticed that the "Existing folders" option was unchecked in the default options for cleaning and I am guessing that many of the 1193 traces still remaining are in that category . I am new to PrivaZer and I have to say that I am not the sort of person who goes for the " Zap everything in sight " sort of option. But I think the people at PrivaZer are doing a great job on a fantastic product . Am I the only one having reservations about this ? Any help or advice would be WELL appreciated !
I use ScreenShotCaptor which I downloaded from http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/index.html I liked it enough to make a donation and I use it for recording many things including online orders, banking balances and such and of course to make snapshots to use on this site. I have it set to make .png snaps. I got the 'same' Results page, nothing showing for "Show all" so a screenshot from you will help. J
- Hi J re your screenshot Where you have " 0 - Cookies " showing , I had dozens . I clicked there to get to the screen which lists them , and has the " Show all " filter option .... and that's where it crashed. Maybe it's not click-able for you because it's showing zero ? On a day that's less busy for me , I will reinstall the update to v2.25 and try to repeat the result I got. Thanks for taking the time to do the follow up anyway !
Normally only things that have been deleted have their shellbag entries deleted so that 'all' traces are gone. Deleting shellbag entries for things that still exist would be a bit pointless because, well, they still exist and it doesn't much matter whether their shell bag entry is there or not. You can be very aggressive and delete 'everything', however having those entries could help you check the sequence of installation/creation/etc. when you're having problems. (Maybe...) J
Installed Privazer 2.24.2 donors version last week and when I did a scan with Emsisoft AntiMalware this morning, the file privazer_start.exe quarantined as Trojan.Generic.12408619 I ran the file through Meta-Scan online and there are 3 other AV products reporting the same; most others show it clean although some of the scans are much older. Does anyone have any input on this being a false positive? Been using Privazer for over a yer and never had any alerts prior. Thanks!
