I was sitting at my computer when I heard an alert for a recent email received. So I check the email and see it's from Prevx. The basis of the email is a warning that I have a current infection. I then checked the Prevx icon in systray and see it's green- no warning message. Then about 30 seconds later the icon turns red with a warning. Is this the usual protocol for receiving warnings from Prevx?
Hi, yeah clever isn't it It's this new ESP technology the've secretly included. 30 seconds was a bit slow though, i'm sure it'll improve ESP - https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Extrasensory_perception I've never had one of those emails, even when running live malware. Maybe it's only for paid users ?
i think its for users with my prevx account....e-mail/sms alerts hmmmm....Extrasensory_perception..... nah...its extra smart prevx or maybe extra sensitive prevx
It was doing a silent scan at the time the file was detected and sends a warning email even before the scan is done and the emails are tied to your license and the email address you purchased Prevx with! If you want to change to see all scans go into the Prevx GUI>Under Settings>Scheduler>Uncheck Do Not show any window while scanning. TH
Ok thanks for the info. That makes sense- I was wondering why there was no warning on my desktop immediately.
This is good news indeed. It will serve those of us who are anal enough to be sitting there just waiting for the very next email alert to tell us something. Anything. And those of us who might possibly still have a life will just have to hope we don't suffer too badly.
TH is correct When a scan is running, a warning won't be shown until it has completed. We don't pop up the GUI mid-scan as we don't show the list of infected files until the entire scan has completed (we discovered that users tend to abort a scan prematurely if they have a detection in it, which was causing quite a few issues removing threats with multiple components) so to save on any FUD, we wait and only warn once for everything
