Just to clarify (as this is definitely an important issue to get fixed), was the internet not working properly in general or just in your web browser?

And, is your setup still the same one in your signature (so that we can try reproducing it internally)? One final question: which build of Windows 7 are you using?

Thanks :) and sorry for the internet headaches

    Hi Joe

Yes, now all HTTP sites protected (with the configuration for HTTP at the default settings, ie, Low) show a BLUE Tab & Excalmation Mark. But if you change to Medium or higher then they show a GREEN Tab & Tick.

I suppose that there has to be a changepoint between BLUE & GREEN but if you have one between Low & Medium what about ones to indicate the other security levels. What about:

    Off: RED with Exclamation Mark

(I notice that even with the fucntionality switched Off the current Tab = BLUE...is that correct?)

Detection Only: AMBER with Exclamation Mark
Low: BLUE with 'L' as the character displayed
Medium: BLUE with 'M' as the character displayed
High: GREEN with 'H' as the character displayed
Maximum: GREEN with TICK as the character displayed

Or something similar that would give the user a quick visual indication of status otherwise.

Or am I complicating things again? :argh: :argh:

BTW - position of the Tab in FF is now in the panel Title Bar rather than obscuring other options in the Tool Bars...so that seems to be fixed now. :thumb:

Just thought of this one to follow up/extend my previous suggestion.

Alternatively or in addition to that previously suggested what about adding a 'Potection Level' entry to the Tab dropdown that picks up the Slider-setting in force for the policy/rule being applied to the website?

Perhaps I should shut up now and get some sleep.

Add to the list of problem software for the new release candidates Keyboard Express and ShortKeys from Insight Software Solutions. Both worked fine with the current non-Beta versions on my two XP SP3 machines but will not function at all under the Betas.

This does not appear to be related to the new browser protection, but the blocking of keyboard hooks in general. Thanks.

Specific site set-up, HTTPS or HTTP?

Have you tried playing with the security configuration slider for the policy used?

Yes, I've completely disabled all browser protection and still no go on any Web site. They do function normally to a local program such as Word, etc., but not on any Web site.

I use 10.10 Beta Build 1778 and no https website seems to work. After visiting https the network is off for Opera. A few seconds later i get an error saying "The bookmarks.adr could not be written". After quitting Opera the custom toolbars are reset to default. But no cpu probs here anymore.
Is the official Opera 10 build working wihout problems? Thx

edit: https only works if set to "Low" setting.

    Hi Joe, 2 questions:
    1) What is exactly the incompatibility with Comodo CIS? I use it and it semmes working well. I talk with Marco (eraser) about a problem under proxy UltraSurf , is that the problem?
    2) Safe Online doesn't work under 64bit ok, but previus RC even if Web Browser Protection daesn't appear on the screen for configure it, seems working on surfing net (the blue/green logo apears on the top of the page) with this new RC it doesn't appear, alias it doesn't work totaly ?
    Thanks

    Hello PrevxHelp :),

There is a misunderstanding somewhere LOL!
I was not referring to the cookie cleaner but the REGISTRY cleaner integrated in ACE Utilities...
I like this module that many members of the Wilders Community use to get rid of leftovers after the bad uninstallation of a software.
Last night i did a full clean uninstall of RC 3.0.4.182 and then used the REG cleaner module of ACE (this time it worked like a charm...as before) before installing Prevx RC 3.0.4.183. Afterwards, i ran Ace and once again it kept scanning my registry in vain...
IMHO, there is an incompatibility with ACE but not with TuneUP Utilities or CCleaner!
Would you mind investigating and checking why Ace or its clone "System TuneUP" doesn't play fair with PrevX RC?
    Thanks.

    Cheers,
    Herve

    Hello Joe :)

Sorry for my outspokenness... but... the problem with the REG cleaner module in Ace Utilities is not yet solved with this RC...despite what you wrote above.
Disappointed to see that you have not kept your word.
Maybe in a next release...you will take into account this bug.

    Cheers anyway,
    Herve

    EDIT:
No offence intended although my remark may seem hard. Congrats for this new build. But now i'm back to the official version..

We have been unable to reproduce any further issues with Ace Utilities. If you could describe what issues you are still experiencing and on what OS/setup they are occurring on, that would be very helpful :)

    1) There is an intermittent issue in realtime protection on some setups with the new release candidate (build .183 and higher) which will be solved in the next update.

    2) We've removed the logo from the browser - it was there incorrectly in the previous build as all of the protection is not yet ported to 64bit.

    Hello,
Could you please send a scan log to report@prevxresearch.com ? I suspect this is being caused because of it being a new version of Opera which may have untrusted browser components that we are blocking.

    Thanks :)

Tested new Prevx at home and oddly enough Opera works like a champ with secure browsing. The only two things that are different between work and home are:
    - we use proxy at work
    - Prevx on machine at work was upgraded vs clean install at home
Could these things cause the weirdness me and others are seeing with Opera 10 on XP?

What's the story with MailWasher Pro, Baldrick? Has the issue we discussed in the previous RC been fixed? Thanks! :)

They indeed could affect it - could you let me know what build of Opera you're using? Opera has been releasing a number of new versions lately and it may be that we aren't updated with the newest ones yet.

We had thought of adding this initially but felt it may over complicate the interface of the dropdown (as 99% of users will never deviate from the default settings).

It isn't correct :) We will have this fixed in the next build :)

I will forward these suggestions onto our graphic designer to see what we could do to make it more logical. Ironically, the icon in the shield is the letter I, not an exclamation point - but everyone thinks it is an exclamation point so I think we do need to work on clarifying it :)

Thank you for the suggestions :thumb:

I've added them to the incompatible list - I'll have to take a closer look as to what they're doing at a low level but will let you know what we find :)

As far as proxy support, is it available for secure browsing? Things can get tricky with squid..

It should be as long as you have the normal Prevx scanning configured to run through the proxy. However, I'm not sure how much testing we've done between a proxy/the secure browser - we will double check this shortly :)

not for me. i get the blue icon with Opera 10 from minimum slider setting to maximum. i have not used my FF or IE8 browsers yet.

personally i expect better stability from an RC.

EDIT: Joe I hope you are still around! after i wrote this post i closed Opera 10 build 1750, and opened up FF 3.0.14 i believe, and i just happened to look at the DFW taskbar icon and noticed it indicating 3 untrusted processes running! since nothing else was running i opened DFW up and went to the untrusted processes list, and low and behold there are 2 Prevx processes running untrusted!! why 2 i don't know, but i am guessing when you remotely dled the new version it wasn't changed from untrusted to trusted. i am going to uninstall and reinstall Prevx, after i change the installers DFW status, but i am going to need you to work your registry magic for the Comodo incompatibility.

Hi Joe. I am still getting an error. It seems to come up when Prevx is analyzing results or if I cancel the scan.

    Error log attached again.
