Got a new laptop with tax return money and found an amazing deal on slickdeals. Asus 15.6" screen, i3 2330 cpu, 6gb ram, 640gb hard drive for $399.

Is their an advantage to using 64 bit IE and 64 bit MSE? I googled it but didn't find clear answers.

    On to the setup:

    MSE 2.0 (64 bit)
Windows Firewall Control (tightened things up and did some other windows hardening)
    EMET maxed out
    IE9 w protected mode
    - Thinking about setting up a SUA and SRP with Parental controls and disabling MSE realtime protection, the simpler and lighter the better for me.
    - Thinking about MBAM or Emsisoft Emergency scanner to use for on demand scans once in a blue moon, or maybe Spybot portable.

    Updating my previous post.
I have 2 pc's running x64. Our main family desktop now uses EAM, previous AV was ESET AV 5, and the Windows 7 firewall. My laptop uses EAM and OA premium. I have other security programs installed on these x64 such as MBAM and Hitman Pro, but I only used them on-demand.

Back to Avast! Don't know why. Nothing was wrong with Panda, I just feel loyal to Avast! and like the changes in version 7.

The one thing I don't like is that AutoSandbox is set to automatically sandbox processes without asking first.

I'm running MBAM Pro real time w/ UAC maxed out. Windows firewall behind a router. Windows Defender reports it's running in the background. I may try to add an av although not sure I really need one. I can add Avira suite, Avast suite, Ad-aware paid or go for a free version of Avira, MSE, AVG or Avast. I guess I'm wondering if any of the ones I have mentioned have issues with x64 systems. I believe there are components, behavior blockers or something like that, disabled in some of the av/suites in x64 set ups.

I want a light set up that is good at detecting malicious web sites and runs in x64 with few reported problems (and has no problem running beside MBAM Pro real time).

If you use Avira you should disable Windows Defender. I believe that is the recommendation on Avira's forum, but double check to be sure.

ok thanks, think I'll try Avira first...I could not find out the detailed info of Avast, but in Avast is the behavior blocker or sandbox disabled in x64? I saw the Avira Proactive was disabled in x64 - I'm guessing that is the Avira behavior blocker?.

That is Avira's behavior blocker. Also you have good Avast questions for Other Av forum. Lots of Avast users there.

AVG 2012, Spamihilator and Windows 7 Firewall Control are 64bit.

    I wish everything was 64bit. :'(

Don't we all. Hopefully we start to see more updates and releases of 64Bit Security software and non-security software as well.

    Avast (Always On)
    AppGuard (LockDown)
Online Armor Premium (Advance Mode with Reg/File Protection and HIPS)
Malwarebytes Anti Malware (Paid, Always on)
    Super Anti Spyware (On Demand)
Spy Shelter Premium (Everything Enabled but Anti Kernel and No Hard Hooks)

    SandBoxie (Paided)
    KeyScramber Premium

Thinking of Switching Avast AV to WebRoot AV, is this a good idea?
