Not sure if this a false alert. Just got a new laptop, installed Eset SS right away.
Gateway running vista64. Every couple of days I get a little pop-up from NOD about a possible unknown boot virus, could not clean.

Here is what shows in the log file:
9/3/2008 5:15:04 AM Startup scanner boot sector MBR sector of the 0. physical disk probably unknown TSR.BOOT virus unable to clean

Nothing is ever detected in the in-depth scans.

    Any suggestions?

if you laptop is shipped with a on-boot recover/backup system installed.
    the alert is normal.
many antivirus give false positive alert on modified MBR info.
