If I was the CISO(Chief Information Security Officer) for USGS, I would be transferring to another gov. agency pronto before all that you know what rolling down hill landed on me.

I'm just doing some calculations here (average time you spend on a site) x (what you do while on site) x (9000)...
Never mind the legal charges, the poor soul is lucky to be alive.

I just have one question about this employee....I assume it was a guy....I also assume they got promoted, or transferred, and then got a pay raise.

The article said he had visited 9000 porn sites! He must have one hell of a porn addiction, otherwise he would have only done that on his personal computer at home. Even if he had the willpower to wait until he got home, that's still one hell of an addiction.

The article also said an unbelievable amount of child pornography had been found on government devices.

Honestly, I think the '9000' figure should be taken with a fair amount of salt.
Besides, I seriously doubt there are 9000 porn sites in existence. 9000. It's too much.

Ah, perhaps you are an ex-U.S. gov. employee that knows how the "Peter Principal" works there?

I have seen the same happen at the local government level at my own job in the past. They then went on to commit even worse offenses, and was arrested for felony charges.

In the end they came back to where they started since I worked in Corrections lol I seen females do worse offenses, and they never were arrested. They did not even lose their job.

Perhaps you would like to defend the gov?

For a few years I worked in the Gov, and saw this first hand...

    It was a satirical reply.

I agree. This is exactly how the gov. operates. And the higher ranking the employee, the more prevalent the practice.

Also as far as the "Peter Principal" goes, it is also quite prevalent in private industry.

In all my work years, I never saw a manager fired for gross incompetence. The rule in play is "management protects management." The idiot is usually transferred somewhere where he can't do any damage; getting a new title and a pay raise to boot.

However if your "not one of team playing boys" and decide to go rogue on your own, kiss your work butt goodbye at that place of employment.
