POP3 server address changes

    My POP3 server is mail.btinternet.com. Every time I restart windows it has been changed to 127.0.0.1 Is it a virus changing it ? How do I stop it ? I am using Outlook Express 6 My antivirus/firewall etc is McAfee. My OS is WinXP SP2

    Hi,

    Just only a wild guess :
    Do you have a HOSTS file (a file without any extension) on your system?
    If so, can you open HOSTS in Notepad/Wordpad and see whether there is a line in it like:
    127.0.0.1 mail.btinternet.com

    Norton also used to be notorious for this. Are you using an email filter, antivirus or otherwise?
