    Hello MudCrab,
    please help me (again).
    Win7 is not in oss.
Linux is install on "Datenträger0", Windows_Vista is install on "Datenträger2", first partition (110,00 GB), Windows_7 is install on "Datenträger2", second partition (131,46 GB).
You can´t see Windows_7, because i have hidden it on oss when i start windows vista.
Please give me the bootwiz.oss with win7. Thanks a lot.

Hey....since we fixt the last snafu it just occurred to me that I never bothered trying to boot into the Win 7, but I just tried it and it goes straight to memtest. Other OS's are ok.

    Dallas Vette,

If your system is still setup as before with C: for Vista and I: for Windows 7 and the Windows 7 partition is seen from Vista, boot into Vista, start a Command Prompt in Administrator Mode and view the BCD file for Windows 7.
    Code:
    bcdedit /store i:\boot\bcd /enum all
Post the output here so I can see it. It may be that the default boot entry has changed to memory test program. It may be easily fixable using bcdedit or it may require a repair using the Windows 7 DVD.

There doesn't appear to be an entry for Windows 7 in the listing. I think the easiest fix may be to run the Windows 7 repair from the Windows 7 DVD.

When you do the repair, you need to make sure that the Windows 7 partition is the Active partition and all other Windows partitions are hidden. If you use DD from the CD to do this, make sure to insert the Windows 7 DVD before you exit (or reboot from) DD so that OSS does not start as it will change the settings. Once the Windows 7 repair is done, you'll probably need to reactivate OSS.

If you want to make sure of your settings and make sure OSS doesn't get in the way, deactivate OSS, select Windows 7 as the default OS, boot to the DD CD and make sure the Windows 7 partition is Active and all other Windows partitions are hidden. Then boot to the Windows 7 DVD and do the repair (make take several times). Once Windows 7 is booting properly, boot to the DD/OSS CD and reactivate OSS.

Can you let me know which partition on which drive contains Windows 7? A screenshot from DD (in Manual Mode) or Windows Disk Management can help with this.

Also, was Windows 7 installed with the other Windows partitions hidden so that the Windows 7 booting files got installed into the Windows 7 partition?

Do Vista and the two XP installations boot properly using OSS?

    Dear mudcrab;

I also need a littole (or big?) help after installing Windows 7 RC (x64) to "Datenträger 2" - 542,14GB partition. Unfortunally the hiding of the previous "C"-partition didn't work, so Win 7 installed the own boot menu. After Reactivating OSS selector I get two menus; in the second I can select to start Windows 7 or Windows XP (older Windows version). The picture shows the partions on my three hard disks.
Is it possible to reactivate OSS and to change the boot files for Windows 7 to the associated partition and do the same for Windows XP?

    Thank You in advance -
    Greetings from Germany (Thüringen)

You will need to first deactivate OSS and then separate XP and Windows 7. This is the same process as separating XP and Vista (instructions can be found here).

When you installed Windows 7, did you make sure that the Windows 7 partition as set Active in addition to hiding the XP partition? Another thing that may have caused a problem was because the Windows 7 installation wasn't to the booting drive. It would have been better to set the Windows 7 partition Active, hide the XP partition and set the Windows 7 as the booting drive in the BIOS before installing it.

    stedy,

Try the attached file. I noticed that the XP OS entry is setup to boot from the Windows 7 partition. Are you getting a double menu?

Was XP previously booting from its own partition? If so, let me know and I'll set it back.

Was the installation of XP before or after the post with the BOOTWIZ.OSS file?

Attach the current file and let me know which ones are booting and which are not booting.

Is the Windows 7 entry showing up in the OSS boot menu?

Also, which partition contains the main OSS BOOTWIZ folder?
