    Hi LoneWolf,

Thanks, that is interesting. I do have an email from them that my AVGAS will be good until Jan 2010. Not sure how that all fits in.
Here is a line or two from the email.
Quote: Your new License Number of the AVG Anti-Spyware is:
    XXXXXXXX
and is valid till January 2010. End Quote

I did notice that the first referenced thread said that it was not possible to purchase AVG Anti-Spyware as a standalone product anymore. Maybe the keyword is purchase.
I guess we will see as time goes on.
Again, thanks for the additional info.

    Regards,
    Jerry

@mantra - SAS needs drivers for full functionality but you can disable the program from starting on boot:

    UPDATE.
I just checked on the Ewido forum here, and it is evidently true that AVG 7.5AS will not be supported after the end of the year. I don't intend to upgrade.
I will continue to use SAS Pro as my AT/AS application. If there is nothing improper about it I will pass my license that will upgrade to someone else.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Negatory Neighbor: CA ruined that product. Super AntiSpyware has never found anything on my Computer and I have the Pro Version. It just lays there and never finds hardly anything. My Favorite is CounterSpy. It Protects Very Well and Has many Very Good Optional Utilities included with it that you can set up to Protect your machine. I have tried Pest Patrol,SpySweeper (which is really a joke but they have alot of advertising Dollars) Spyware Doctor, and Super AntiSpyware and Counter Spy is way out in front.

Yes SAS updates nearly every week night pretty regularly. Plus the program is regularly upgraded. I have had it and pretty much every other anti-spyware program on my machines over the years. I think SAS runs the smoothest and the customer service and help forums are very good.

You can't compare an anti spyware with an anti virus my friend.

Pest Patrol use to be pretty good, haven't touched it in a while. I remember a while back i got some false positives though. I'd say about 2 years ago, not really sure. Never touched it after that...

What exactly is the purpose of this thread anymore?

I see so many other "things" mentioned in the thread.
Not to mention that another developper felt the need to jump in also.

We had threads closed with titles like "which is the best?".
Now we have a thread with a title like "... one of the best".

To me it looks like that this thread has "outlived" itself by now.
