PES 9.0.0.1429 Where did "Entire PC Cleanup" and Classic View go? What else is gone?

    I just upgraded to PES 9.0.0.1429 from PES 8 and I am a bit disappointed. I use PES at least 20 times a day to cleanup my system after using the net or other applications.

    In PES 8 you could switch to classic view which allowed you to run "Entire PC Cleanup". This was a one click solution for PC and Internet cleanups. Now you have to run each individually. Why does Acronis always get rid of usable features and replacing them with buggy features.

    My gran-daddy used to say, "If it aint broke, don't fix it". Hint, Hint. By oversimplifying things, you make them harder to use.

    Also gone is the ability to right click on a task and configure it from there. Now you have to go to an entirely different page... Why add more steps?

    The ability to rename a task is gone as well. This was a useful feature in previous versions. My parents have PES 7 or 8 installed on their computer, I forget which, and I renamed the tasks with names like "Run Daily" or "Run Weekly". This helps the computer illiterate function...

    What happened to the popup blocker tray icon? Is it running or not? And what are spawned bars and spawn dialogs? Are they in house terms? How about a description after the label in the options?

    I really like the Acronis product line, but updating every few weeks is getting to be a bit too much. I wish Acronis would stick to one version and get all the bugs out and just add updates for new features instead of constantly changing the products.

    Its like the government, no one is communicating with each other over at Acronis. Are the programmers writing the programs on a whim? For just themselves and other like minded people? Or do the really want the public to use the products? The only consistency in the product lines is the way they look. The programs loose feature and new ones are added so much that what started out to be a simple well functioning product turns into a full featured, who the heck knows what it does application.

    After the upgrade, my system has crashed twice and startup time is several minutes longer, probably due to the spyware shield application loading. This too is getting harder to use.

    After all of this, I am heading back to PES 8…

    Entire PC cleanup is available via 'Schedule a Task' but I agree that it should be a 'one click' option as well. Now you have to run three separate processes to achieve the same effect.

    I would like to schedule 'entire system cleanup' at boot time but unfortunately this includes 'hard disk free space wipe' even though I have de-selected it from the 'system cleanup' options.

    Hello scrap and pjb024,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Internet Privacy and Antispyware Software.

    Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience, but it was decided to exclude 'Classic view' feature from Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0 and it will not be returned.

    I have forwarded your comments concerning the other Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0 features to our Development Team and they will certainly be considered.

    Thank you.

    I respectfully submit that removing the "Classic View" and removing the manual access to "Entire PC Cleanup" was a stupid marketing decision, and one that will likely affect my regular use of the program.

    Classic view being gone is no big deal... However the combined modules in "Entire PC Cleanup" are what most people that used the classic view would really like to be returned. It is the only reason I used the classic view. I never ran any modules alone, but did the PC Cleanup and Internet Cleanup combined in "Entire PC Cleanup" all the time.

    Most people that do one, do the other... So why remove the feature.

    As for the Spyshield application, it dramatically slowed my system down not only on boot, but also in normal operation. Something is definitely wrong with it. I solved the slow down by removing the application altogether.

    I would still like to be able to see the popup blocker icon in the system tray. Removing that was just plain stupid. How is anyone supposed to know if it is running or not? I have uninstalled it as well and went with a different application to handle popups.

    So 1 out of the 3 applications combined in PES 9 are somewhat worth keeping. I'm going back to PES 8 where I had more control and usable features still exist.

    Besides the frequent updating and constant bugs in the applications, Acronis seems to be a decent software maker. However, if they would like to remain a good software maker, they need to stop changing the products so much. People like to see new features added, but not at the cost of removing features that people actually use. Instead of putting out updates, which seems like every other week, how about doing some actual beta testing of your own and stop having the end user do it for you.

    Also the need to download the entire application to do an update is very time consuming and should not be the case. Most of the time the end user needs to uninstall a previous build just to install a new build. Installing on top of an older build seems to only work half of the time, which means the end user needs to uninstall, reboot, install, and reboot again. Now that makes no sense. How a bout a live update feature like the one used by almost every other software company out thereo_O

    Hello all,

    Please be aware that you can run 'Entire PC clean-up' using the following way:

    - Run Acronis Privacy Expert Suite 9.0;
    - Select the 'Schedule a task' option;
    - Choose 'Entire PC clean-up'.

    You can also configure this task by right-clicking on the 'Entire PC clean-up' icon in this wizard.

    I have forwarded your other suggestions to our Development Team. They will be certainly considered and probably will be implemented/returned in the future.

    Thank you.

    I did see that it is included in the scheduler... However, I do not want to schedule it. I want to open PES9 and click one icon (Entire PC Cleanup) and be done with it. I do not want to run scheduler just to get to it nor do I want to schedule it to run automatically. I don't want more processes running on my system that are not needed. PES9 already has problems with running prcesses which PES8 didin't including its own running process.

    I want, and I am sure everyone else wants, a simple one click solution. Why did you have to go and complicate it with adding additional steps? One Click! Get it? One Click!

    Scheduler will run it, but then you have to cancel or go thru scheduling. More steps... Or you can run each seperately, again, more steps... One Click Cleanup!
