I do not know if this is the appropriate place to ask this question, if not please inform me about it.
My daughter will be going to London-Oxford for 3 weeks. She wants to buy a new vista premium PC.She is a computer illiterate. Also it will be her first trip to London. Can anyone living there recommend a good PC shop,or an internet site for me to look at.Also what about the VAT.Please tell me a way to learn these.Thanks.

shop could be anyone, but i would recomend two things:
    1. buy a computer from a retailer with good international warranty, make sure you can get it fixed free of cost when she returns
    2. get one from a larger chain, it'll be easier to claim the VAT back when returning home (you'll have to pay full price first, and get the VAT back when leaving)

i went shopping today for a computer with a friend in London lol

Dells are OK, or you can go to PCWorld. VAT is included in the price for everything so you don't have to add it on after, it's 17.5%. if you get desperate for help and she's near i'll meet her at a computer shop to help pick one if you want, but if i had a daughter i don't think i'd go for that lol. i can look in my local branch and suggest one though.

i've seen a lot of people buy stuff from here -
    http://www.komplett.co.uk/
i've never used them though, i don't really like online shopping

me and my friend just decided to get one from Dell in the end, we didn't find anything good in the shops - PCWorld, Curry's etc. we're probably going to get this one, it's reduced by £100 -
    http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&kc=&oc=D015009

if you go to the Dell UK home page and click on the laptops or desktops, then click on a bit, there's a link on those pages that tells you about reduced computers. like here -
    http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspn_6400?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs
    Save £70 (Inc vat).
    Save £50 (Inc vat).

you can get coupon codes too from these places -
http://www.retailmenot.com/ i think they are the same people as bugmenot
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4980 lol

    http://www.onlinestorecoupon.com./ShopbyCategory/electroniccoupons.htm
    http://dealnews.com/coupons/
    http://www.currentcodes.com/

i really don't know anything about those coupon code sites, so it would be best to look them up if anyone plans to use them!

Tottenham Court Road in London has LOTS of small independent computer shops where she can see a wide range of machines and where prices are up for discussion!
