    Hi All

I switched on my PC this morning and it has proceeded to tell me that it has found new hardware.
The hardware being PCI Simple Communications Controller.
The new hardware wizard is asking me to install it. I have not downloaded this hardware so was quite a surprise when i switched on the PC this morning.

What is the hardware mentioned and do i install it?

    Regards

    Kath x

PCI Simple Communications Controller is probably your 56k modem. If you are using high speed 10/100 for your internet connection you do not need it but it will not hurt to install driver updates for hardware. to check if their are other available driver updates go to windows update and select custom instead of express and when the update list appears look on the left at hardware to see if their are updates available. hope this was helpful.

(just in case anyone ever uses the search feature)

as mentioned that is almost always modems ;)

but in the event your fixing a box full of unknown components
the UBCD has AIDA16 (download drivers before installs), there is Everest Home Edition (same author) and finally
    Unknown Device Identifier ;)
