A real time memory scanner might be a good idea though it will cause CPU spikes I think.

Is there any other AV/ AS/ AM with such a feature except BOClean?

I hope their antivirus is not so false positive-dependent as their anti spyware.

Yes, but, LoL, Spring down here.
Might even have some expectations of interesting changes.
    All 'go' in Oz.
    With any luck ..;)

PCTools AV Version 5 beta is running very smooth & stable on my computer. Incredibly light on resources. Good, efficient updater. The GUI is well-designed, simple to use, and readily shows the user what s/he needs to know.

PCT's AV began as a clone to VirusBuster, but PCT has subsequently made several significant changes -- not the least of which is this present beta. As a result, tests of VirusBuster might no longer be a good indicator of how well PCTAV itself would perform. I look forward to: (1) Future testing of PCTAV itself, and (2) The impending arrival of a major new addition to PCT's staff.

NOTE: PCTAV does NOT require a restart during installation. Therefore, it is easy & painless to test it in sandboxed or shadow or frozen status. :thumb:

I've noticed a pop-up from the smart update module when an update is available. Can this be done in the background without the notification or is this only available for the Pro version?

Also the Smart Update tab under Scheduler Settings seem awkward having the 2 checkboxes.

One for prompt notification where you can check every 30 minutes and the other one for activating the update which at the most can be done on a daily basis, not hourly or minutelyo_O

    Am I missing something?

EDIT: Looks like this is already discussed (by freedeanna) in their forum.

Their firewall is not bad, ThreatFire is excellent and their antivirus, even though not top notch is decent enough and can also be used for commercial use (this one is a major plus compared to free avast!, AVG and AntiVir which can only be for personal, non-comercial usage). The interface is indeed a bit cartoonish but thats a special thing about PC Tools programs interface. Honestly i kinda like the way how they do it.

    Folks,

A few OT posts removed. Let's keep the thread on track and try not to drift towards speculative discussions regarding specific members. Thanks in advance.

Tried it and uninstalled it as it hung explorer and slowed my Xp down to a crawl. Needs a lot more work yet.
