I remain as undecided about Authensys, still believe in the white
and black list strategy they have, seems to me though with this
new program, and the many more prompts it has, it would be
really easy to make a mistake, or you could give yourself carpal
tunnel syndrome doing all that clicking.

Other thing, reading the forum this morning before it (ahem)
disappeared again, seems many were relying on pcIP as a
actual firewall, wonder how many will be disappointed to
see that feature has been removed.

Last I do not know about this protection thing they have
added, but if they are willing to give it for free to existing
users I may redownload it again and give it a try.

Let me know what you think of it,

    Wake

    Wake .
Help me out if you can please . I do not see how this is losing it's firewall feature . It seems to do what pcIP did but , you have a little more control . Are you saying this is no longer a firewall ?

I may . I was involved with it back when it was being started . As for the released version , I am angry at how bad support has been . As of now , NO , I will stay clear . I am sure it is good though . But , no matter how good a program is , support is important . AND , regardless of them saying you should not experience downtimes anymore , I do not trust that statement . They have let me down alot in the past few months . I think i am through . Let me know how you like it though . It WILL work well .

    hi hollywoodpc, and Triple Helix,

I downloaded the trial version of Authensys last weekend
and installed it, the hacker tracker feature available in
pcIp is not in this new Authensys program, and I do not
see that this program has any firewall capabilities.

Seems to me is strictly application and component white
and black listing, with the same ability pcIP had to
block malicious programs, report potentially malicious
ones, and it also has a lot, and I mean alot more user
prompts than pcIP had, but it does remember settings,
and it also has this new protect feature designed to
work with your AV and firewall.

Other features missing from pcIP to Authensys is the
option to enable disable sharing, email attachment,
and the ask the administrator on call.

I still havent decided to reinstall Authensys or not,
the repeated weekend downtimes with no explanation
bugged me, think they should have better prepared
    their users for this transition.

Thank you kindly Wake . I expect is is still a firewall type . Just not what we are used to . I know pcIP blocked ALL leaktests at release . Something no other firewall could do . And I too am very angry at how they have handled , err , bungled this crap over the last few months . Thanks again for the info and I will be interested to hear how things go . If you decide to keep it .

    Hi Hollywood and your welcome,

After thinking on this, seems to me it's the same application
and component control behaviour monitoring, white and black
list approach, and when I tried it saturday it blocked every
leak test based on black list and pops up with the malicious
program alert and blocks it, so to that degree I guess this
is a application, and component firewall.

In reading their forum a few users state they were using
pcIP as a stand alone firewall, because of ease of use,
and which surprised me simply because I do not think it
would be sufficient, maybe thats just way I think though.

I'm giving Authensys a go running fine after the First run which takes about a 1/2 hour to click on all prompts and then reboot all is well!!

I would Recommend any one to try it!! 30 Day fully functional Trial!!

In their forum under the Dear PCInternet Patrol Users thread it says that:

"Once the transition to Authensys is completed in the next 10-14 days all
current pcIP users will be offered to switch to Authensys with 1 year free
    subscription. "

    Regards,

    Wake

Done, Gone, and Goodbye pcIp and Authensys!! 4 days running it jammed my box up got the BSOD three times until I went in Safe mode and remove Authensys and then Rebooted and some of my programs are messed up can't use my printer!! Time to Reformat and keep away from this Dam program!!

Oh one thing is that if they would continue to support pcIp I would use it but not Authensys!!

Hope you guys have better Luck!!

    Cheers,

Sorry to hear about the problems, when I uninstalled pcIP I used regseeker
after to delete the entries for it, and in System 32 removed it manually, and
than I installed Authensys and didnt have any bsod's but my opinion was pcIp
is a better program so off went Authensys, far as your bsods seems you have
some conflict someplace with something, hope you able to get solved before
a reformat, and I agree with you, if they continue to support pcIP I would
use it, and even buy another license, wont for Authensys, best of luck to
    you with the computer problems.

    Wake

When I uninstalled Authensys, I exited program from system tray
than went to control panel, administrative tools, services, and
stopped the IPKernel service, than I uninstalled Authensys, than
I used reg seeker to delete entries, and manually removed the
remainder from C drive pcip logs, and from Windows System 32
thought I add this in case it might be of help to you.
